Riken Tires
Riken Tires
Hello All,
I am in need of new tires, and do not want to spend a lot of $. Just something that will handle as good, and last as long as the stock RSA's.
I was quoted $ 104.89 ea mounted and balanced for Riken Raptors in the
245/45/18. Does anyone have any experience with this Tire, or could you
point me in another direction?
Thanks for the help!

They are made by BF Goodrich and here is what is said about them
Riken Raptor ZR Performance TiresTires that let you smoke the competition.
These Riken Raptor ZR ultra-high performance tires feature an aggressive directional tread pattern for serious grip in both wet and dry conditions. The Raptors' advance tread compound, along with a high-modulus composition sidewall, gives quick response during cornering and maximizes handling. A waved center rib helps channel water while providing additional support, responsiveness, and traction, and a computer-phased tread design ensures a quiet, comfortable ride. Raptor tires also have built-in rim protectors that help keep your wheels from scuffing.

I just bought a set of rims with riken tires on them for the summer 245/45/18 on 18x8.5 rims, ill let everyone know how they pan out when I try them in the spring.
I just put on a set of contiprocontacts and they are very nice tires if you are looking for a quiet tire with good grip in the snow. They arent cheap though, those are my summer tires lol.

They are directional, UTQG 300, traction AA, W speed rated for $79.00 a piece. From an old Michelin post, it maybe from the ashes of the old Uniroyal brand. You got my curiosity. Got to do some web surfing. Tks.
I decided to purchase the Rikens. Had them put on two days ago.
They stick like glue, and are very quiet. I am thrilled with them after
two days of very hard driving. I will keep you all posted on how they
continue to perform. I figured that even if the lasted 1/2 as long, I could
purchase them again, and still have less cost than purchasing other UHP
tires

Nice to hear, too bad its 20 degrees out and snowing here, I wont be able to use the rikens till spring. Im on my first week of ContiProContacts and love them for the winter, but they lack the precision Im used to with the F1s, sounds liek in the summer I will get that responsiveness back with the rikens for less than half the price of the goodyears.
Get the continental extreme contact. I replaced my rs-a with these and they were honestly 1000% better the car handles better in the rain and cornered just as good and rode much much smoother. They have a higher speed rating and you can get them for about what you are looking to spend. read the reviews on them...they are EXCELLENT tires.
Rikens have been around for years, and I consider them to be a 'name' brand.
I have used Rikens, but not in the size you are using, and not in many years. I remember liking them just fine. But I would look up ratings and user comments on a site like tirerack.com before buying a set.
For my SL, I use size 225/55-17. If I had to buy today, I would be getting Kumho Solus KH16 tires. They are not only less expensive than the 'big guys'; they are rated very highly in both rating systems I checked, and have drawn very good reviews from drivers using them.
Tirerack ranked them 3rd among the 16 rated in my particular size, and they cost way below what the top two rated tires cost.
And before everyone says 'rated against what?', other than one Dunlop and one Firestone, every other one of those 16 tires was either a Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli or Continental.
Of course, name alone guarantees nothing. For instance, there are Sumitomo tires rated very highly, but also Sumitomo tires rated very lowly.
It is always good to do some research. And the tire and wheel section of Maxima.org is a very good place to begin.
