Considering 6th gen.

Hey guys....Ive been around here awhile and have owned 2 maximas. Right now though, im driving a 2.5i Impreza that I can not stand in the least. So, I came across this 6th gen 6 speed with 80k miles on it. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...000&cardist=32
That is the autotrader link. It seems like a good price, but im worried about it being an 04 cause I know alot of 04's had some big time issues that couldnt be solved last time I read up. What do you guys think?

Are you considering, or did you consider?

97Se5spd,

I would check the tires. Make absolutely certain that it doesn't have the Goodyear Eagle RSA's. My Brother in law bought one similar to this one your interested in, and he put a link under the tires thread about his Goodyears. They are junk tires. I will try and find you the link.

Also, someone might be able to chime in here and tell you about the 'Great Shimmy Thread'.

Make sure the SkyView Recall has been performed.

I can't remember anymore of the issues with this car. Hopefully someone else can help you.

Also, check out:
6thgenmaxima.org there are a few owners over there that might be able to offer some solid advice!

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Swee

Even though it was bad, you would still buy anything?

Thanks NmexMAX

My dealings with them : the salespeople and service there are a nightmare and I'm being way kind.

Well I have the 04 SL and have had no issues with the car. I paid about 36000 for mine so I think 13000 is basically giving it away. Drive it and if you like it buy it. It's a great car expecially if its a 6 sp.

I just purchased an 04 Maxima SL and I'm loving it =) What is this "Great Shimmy"? Are there any other issues/recalls I need to know about besides the goodyears?
