Another Spring thread

Ive been reading about the spring options that we have here and i am still debating on which would be the better route.

Brand | FR drop | Rear Drop | Spring Rate | Part #
-----------------------------------------------------------
Eibach | 2.0" | 0.8" | ???? | 6369.140
Progress | 1.8" | 0.75" | 180/350 | 40.1522
Stock | 0.0" | 0.00" | ???? | OEM

[FYI chart]

I am looking for the spring rates for the eibach and the oem. from also reading, the general consensus says that the eibachs have a sqeaking problem but there is a fix [rubber sleeve?] I also plan on getting the kyb gr-2's from cattman so i just want to pick the right spring. I have already purchased/installed the RSB and endlinks. the FTSB and the MMI's are already ordered/paid for.

TIA!

Get the Progress/KYB set from Brian (Cattman), you definately will not be disappointed! With the Progress it is almost perfectly flush all around eliminating wheel gap...the rear is a little lower than I would like, but it still looks amazing! Check out my sig if you don't believe me!

Dan

Now all you need is a FSB from the Altima SE-R, which can be found here... http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=214143 for $92.44 shipped!!! Stealership wanted about $150 for everything!

This is the day of the install so the car hasn't settled fully yet but this is what you should expect from Catmann/Progressive/KYB setup.

xoomer, how would you rate the ride quality after the drop and new struts?

handling 100% better, ride quality...can live with it. Lets just put it this way. The struts/shocks are stiffer then OEM but feel more solid. On good roads even with bumps they are great but once you hit pot holes in NY, fughettaboutit.

If you live in a place where roads are good or not as bad as NYC roads you will be 100% satisfied with the swap. If you live or do most of driving in NYC you will be 90% satisfied.

Overall, I would do it again.

Springs

I thought I'd throw another wrench into the equation.

I just installed the front H&R springs ONLY last week and I am really happy with the performance/ride quality. It's a tad bit less drop than the progress springs but there is virtually no degradation in ride quality. I'd say about 10% stiffer and about 25% improvement in handling.

I complimented the front springs with a progress RSB and could not be more happy. For those of you who want a almost leveled look but still want a close to factory ride this is a nice one-two combo. I will post pics as soon as I am allowed to.

bcoolmax - y doing just the front, doesnt that kinda mess up the overall rebound rate due to the stiffer spring rates in the front and oem in the rear? i was also considering this with the progress. are you on the oem struts as well?

xoomer - i upgraded from a turbo'd civic on h&r springs with kyb agx's dialed in at the stiffest and i enjoyed the control. also i had other suspension mods as well.

I am still running on OEM struts. Regarding the rebound rates-nothing very noticable. The car rides like it's on rails now and bumps on sharp turns don't bother it at all. I also bought new shoes. They are Dunlop Sport Max's.

With these Mods I get really good road feel, very flat turning, and supple ride quality. I am very pleased. Would'nt hesitate to do it again. The Dunlops were only $121 per tire.

Yep, the tires really allow you to push the limits further. I got myself BFGoodrich G-Force and couldn't be any happier. Sticky like super glue.

Is it cause you have rubbin in the rear? or why? im confused on what difference does having ppl in the rear affect the car even though the body is smacked up against the wheel.

O and i remembered hearinga bout the cattman kyb/progress springs package or w.e. for like 500, is that still good, anyone know?

There was a deal from catman when I was buying it and it was that you get progress springs, KYG GR-2 struts and shocks and Rear sway bar for $495. I don't know what it costs now.

As to the rubbing, there is none. I have 18x8 rims with 245/45/18 front and 18x9 with 245/45/18 rear and there is ZERO rubbing.

My brother lowered it exactly same way and have 19" NISMOs with 255/45/19and there is no rubbing either.

My family is on the "fuller" side so there is plenty of pounds in the sitting in the rear whenever He or I pick up my pops.
