May be time for Retirement

Well Guys and Gals I think I am getting rid of my max. Not becasue I don't enjoy the car cuz I do. But do to the recent passing of my wife I can't keep that car. Too many memories of travel with her and the kids and a lot of hours spent a way from her working on the car so. I think it needs to find a new home. I am thinking of replacing it with one of these tell me what you guys think.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about your wife. The car can also be a good thing to keep for that same reason. Good luck to you.

I am keeping her car for that reason since it was hers.

Yeah I know the prices are a bit random but these seem to be the only cars that seem to strike my fancy. other than the RS4 but no one has 80k to spend on a car and the S4 would be used becasuse of the price of it.

I don't care that much of the 07 max besides if it was a max I wanted I would keep the one I have.

Sorry to hear about the passing of your wife, I wish you the best.

As for cars.....how about a 5-series BMW?

You owe it to yourself to go test-drive the BMW 335i. Regardless of which car you choose, you should test drive all your possible choices and decide after you have driven them.

Brain hermerage. very sudden and unexpected.

I have not thought about the 5 series not sure I want the headaches that come with bimmers. the 3 series is way to small in the interior or that would have been on the list. I have 2 kids so space is important even though this will not be a everyday driver. Besides the 5 series gets pricey even for a used one. I wish they still did the m3 in a 4 door like the 97 now that would be worth the headaches that come with owning a bimmer.

my opinion is the IS 350 all the way. I drove one at the Taste of Lexus and fell in love with it.

No headache with a new under warranty BMW (but you're willing to put up with Audi???). And the interior is similar in space to the G35, while the rear is much better than the IS (which is very cramped).

it is all speculation at this point. The only thing that I don't like about the 07 G is the way the headunit is intigrated into the dash. Makes upgrading difficult. I would love to have a 540 but price is high. I am looking at something that I can mod fairley easily that is why the Audi is top of my list at the moment but who knows things change. Next I may want a suv.

I have an '06 5 series too. If you like to visit the stealership often, it's one of the cars to get. '99 -'02 MB E320 or E430 are pretty solid cars, if that's the range you'd consider; lots of mods, good structure for modding.

Sorry to hear that.

No VW - reliability issue (mechanical)
Audi - Parts $$
G35 - Quality on the cheap for the money you pay

IS350 - Class, reliability, advance traction control/electronics, A1 air bag system, a tad more power than the Max.

Personally I have a audi too and my friend has the 2006 G, The Audi is a Audi, I mean yea parts are expensive and ect but you probally wont need those until after 36000 miles other then that its a whole complete driffrent ride, Personally to me Audi makes a statement more then a G or a VW just becuase I dont see as many as I see G's or VW's. As far as AscendantMax saying getting it chipped and ect the S4 comes with a V8 you dont need to do a thing to that car, yea upgrades are expensive but with a V8 how much more power do you need? If you want to make a statment get the audi, but the rest is up to you.

Well I have swtiched gears yet again. I am really leaning towards the Lexus GS 350 or the Audi S4. I am not worried to much about cost of parts and stuff this car will not be driven everyday. With that being said I have have stuff from my max for sale. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....94#post5475694

I would say S4. Just make sure to go with an extended warranty. I almost picked up a Negoro Blue 6spd not too long ago. Awsome car!! Scared myself...

Yeah this is tough. I know that both cars are in differrent classes one is a v8 and one is a v6 one is built more of driving and one more for luxuary. The GS is bigger that is a plus. The S4 was the baddest car I have driven lately besides the RS4 that drove the same day. I will make a decision in a week or so when I get back to KC to drive the GS.

Very sorry to hear about your great loss.

I think the best way to solve this is let your kids pick your next car....

Yes it makes every thing seem minute. She is my life force.

I tryied to let the kids pick the car but my 8 yr old likes both the GS and the S4 if I get a loud color like red, blue, yellow. My 3 yr old son picked a Lambo and a mustang GT 500, oh and not to mention Lightning McQueen.

Maybe you should hold onto the rims until you know what you're buying. They may fit.

nope I am going staggered on the next ride. I will call you in a bit I have to go get my son from school. I will be pulling the air intake off this evening. I am thinking we should just swap strut assemblies if you want the springs still.

Hi Kublkmax,

I am deeply sorry for your loss. My sincere condolences.

I have my own opinion regarding the issue.

I believe that your wife would have wanted you to conserve you car, the memories and the time and effort that you put in to it.

Otherwise: Here is my opinion.

Audi is expensive for a 4 cyl engine, BMW is worse, Passat have had a history of major reliability issues....everyone I know that has one is complaining about it.

Go check out the new Altima 6 cyl coupe...looks like a G35 coupe from the rear, is easy to get in and out. I just saw it at the Montreal Intl. Car Show on Saturday and I can say that it was drawing a lot of attention. Everyone said that they loved it. The front looks like the 350Z and the rear looks like the G35. I would bet that there will be a lot of aftermarket front bumper/spoilers for the car to make it look even more agressive. Maybe 6 speed standard with that 270 HP engine. I wonder if Nissan plans to come out with an Altima SE-R coupe with the G35 engine and AWD? That would be an awsome machine. Although I liked the BMW 335 coupe I found it ridiculously expensive. My other favorite was the new Acura TL S-type with the lower spoilers all around the car. The car comes with a bigger and more powerful engine that can be modded (Honda).

I think that the new Altima and especially the new coupe, and the new Sentra SE-R is going to kill the Maxima. The Sentra looks like a small Maxima.
They have diluted that Maxima's value.

wow sorrie to hear about that man , But God forbid you get an audi or a vw i think those cars are a joke , if you want to go for an european go for Bmw or the Benz i hear a lot that Mercedes improved a LOT with their quality , and Audi wants way too much $$$ for their cars , but thats my 0.2 Cents , other than that i think both the lex and the G are both are very very nice cars . Good luck =]
