I have an extra stock rim that's a little bit bent. I'm thinking about using it for a full sized spare since it still holds a decent seal for upwards of a week or so. Does anyone have suggestions for or against that idea?

Heh... I researched for hours on end just for tires alone. I can't imagine the time I'd spend if/when I get new wheels. Ack!

I ended up with a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Positions via Tire Rack. The NTB just down the street is one of their recommended installers, so I'm getting a great deal.

Sorry, don't mean to go so OT... but it doesn't look like I can start my own threads yet.

Ahhhhh,

I see why some people are against 22s in terms of ride quality and fitment. I just put on a set of 20s and with the Eibach drop the fitment is damn near perfect. I went with a 20x9 and 255/35/20 tire. With the car loaded up I do see a very slight rub on the tire in the rear but at this point it only looks like a minor brush of the upper wheel well.

The first thing I thought when I put the wheels on is, "I can't see why anyone would want to go bigger than that on a Maxima."

I will post pics soon.

Those titanium ebay wheels look too deep-dishy for me, something about the fat curved single spokes just doesn't look right.

SEGirl, on the ones you posted originally from Sport Max have that extra lip around and in between each of the spokes like the mold they came out of wasn't right. I personally don't like that "webbed look". And they're def not worth $2,800.

Of the new ones I like the 5 stars also, but I prefer that split-spoke look I think. Although the geometric 5 stars you posted by itself looks very interesting, trying to picture it on the max. There's not much to it and I kind of lean towards wheels with more metal to them, although lightweight is just as important.

Chernmax I like the Axis wheels. Rims with 40 bolt holes around the lip just seem to be a pain in the a$$ to clean, so I wouldn't be sure if I'd get them.

Good to see some variety here though, keep it coming! I'm really looking for a hypersilver 5-star, split-spoke rim with a slight arch to the spokes like those MB Vapor wheels. Any input would be appreciated. I got the cash just need to decide!

Also, to 'ThePresence' what kind of selection does your guy in Orlando have? I'd be happy to drive there if I knew he had something I liked, but not just to browse.

I recommend 20's, They look better, cost about the same as 19's and 20 inch tires are actually cheaper than 19's because it's considered an odd size. Do a price check, I surprised myself!!! Most people I know are moving away from 19's, I'm sure you'll make a good decision...

I found the Axis on www.tirerack.com

Last, If you want true performance, staying with 18's is your best bet, larger wheels mean heavier rims/tires which means decreased acceleration numbers and slightly longer stopping distances, not to mention if you live in an area with bad streets you are more susceptible to tire/rim damage with a slightly harder ride...

If your goal is to look good, you are right on track

To date, I'm still rollin on 18's and since I'm more of a tuner, I have no plans on fleeting up, but god dam I do love the look of 20's!!!

Here's what I'm doing:

Wheels: $800
Tires: $600

$1400 Total

If I weren't (EDITED BY ME DUE TO OFFENSIVENESS TO OTHERS - Sorry) and didn't care about performance I MIGHT go for some 20" rims

lmao..... goes to show your ignorance. I need not say anything, you do a perfect job yourself.

I wasn't refering to 20's, i was refering to your comment about "If I weren't white" as in only non-white ppl throw 20's on a max....

We can clearly see you're racist. It seems like this forum embraces racist.

You're right. I'm sorry, dude. Sorry, everbody. Please, back to rims...

Will the 17" x 7.5" Nismo rims fit my stock tires: 225/55ZR17 ??? It says the recommended size tires are 225/45-17 or 225/45-17. Admittedly, I don't know too much about tire sizes except that I believe the first number is the width in mm, the last number is the diameter in inches and the middle number is some kind of ration related to the sidewalls (correct?). I just bought some really sweet BFG g-Force Sports and would like to keep them until the wear out. If not, I guess I'll wait on the rim purchase until I need new tires too. Lemme know. Thanks!

Please dont go with 17s on a 225 tire. It'll be a shame to put all that money into the car and then handicap and kill the stance of it with a puny wheel/tire combo. My advice(if you want to take it or not) is to go with an 18" or 19" wheel with at least a 245 width tire.

Alright, based on everyone's feedback and the fact that there's evidently a killer selection of BFG g-force tires that aren't too much more that the 17"s (way less than the 19" tires.) I'm going to go with The same Nismo rims, but in 245/40ZR18 rubber. Those 19" rims are beautiful, but I'm more about performance. This seems like a good compromise. Agree? Disagree? Don't care 'cause it's my car? Seriously, thanks for input. Good luck with those 20"-ers. They'll look a vary vary nice-ah! (NOT bashing French people - just fyi)
