If we want to just use an IPOD by using the aux jack can we run the music from the ipod and not have to buy a kit?

On the '07, absolutely. Works fine except I hate the cable sticking out of the middle of the dash.

why shouldn't i do it if the manager is there?

Thanks. I figured that to be the case and there are solutions at Radio Shack but none to fit the connector. I'm going to try the sandpaper and I'll let you know what happens.

jcalabira,
My son has an IPOD and I wanted to show him the feature. Can I pick up the cord at a Best Buy or Circuit City? Thanks for all your recent help. Maxima.org is great.

Absolutely. You can find it pretty much anywhere. I picked mine up at Radio Shack. You just need a 1/8" to 1/8" stereo cable (male to male).

Just about any place should have one.. (1/8" stereo plug both ends).

I picked up a cheapie at Radio Shack a couple of years ago to use in a rental Jeep. http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=family

As far as I know, yeah, you'd need to go with either an FM transmitter or a tape adapter.

okay, update time for anyone who might be interested

I went to my dealership and had the iPod adapter installed yesterday.......

and it is absolutely AWESOME

just what i was looking for because it
1) allows me search through the iPod using steering wheel or HU
2) displays song data on screen
3) audio quality is waaaaay better than tape adapter or FM transmitter

i'd recommend it to anyone who's on the fence about buying one

yo, to those of you fellas that are doing connections from the ipod to the aux input, try getting a dock to 1/8" connector instead, it provides MUCh better quality. i've read about it here: http://www.head-fi.org. those folks mostly use that type of custom connector to connect to their headphone amps, but you can use that connector for your aux input I THINK. it may be worth a shot to check into it for the sound quality boost.

i had a carpc in my 2002 nissan maxima: http://www.maximapc.com but decided to sell everything and just go with my video ipod, i guess i'm sort of tired of the hobby (it was fun and the novelty of it though has worn off). so long story short, i'll be looking into a factory integration option for my 02 maxima and will let those that are curious know what i find.

mzx280: is the factory option you got installed specifically for 6th gen only, or does it work with 5th gen?

I know I'm comin from left field with this question but, would the OEM Ipod kit work with the Microsoft Zune or is there a kit like the OEM Ipod one that will allow you to use the steering controls & have the display as well? Also, I have the Bose Nav system in my 04MaxSL so would that pose a problem?

I don't think so. I tried to find something for my Creative Zen Vision M (way better than an Ipod) and there was nothing to be found. I just got some kit to add an AUX input into one of the satellite radio inputs. I just plug that into my Zen. I have to control it from the player, works great and sounds great though. Only cost me $110 installed.

Is there a company that makes a Zune kit that integrates with the Maxima system? Also, will the Ipod OEM kit work even though I have the NAV/Bose system? U know, regarding the display & all?
