I had an Accord get stolen about 7 years ago. They crashed the front end and ended up destroying the interior trying to get the stereo out. It worked out well because they ended up totalling it, and I got my Twin Turbo Z

i don't think they'll give me a new maxima , they'll probably fix it because they count is as a total damage only if the damage is 75% of the car price, well thats what i've heard , so i don't know what's goin to happen now , i hope everything's gonna turn out good .

Killah - No, they won't give him a check. Life is never that simple.

As the damage was less than 75% of the value of the car, they will have him get three estimates and offer to pay the lowest. But if VQ35LIFE pushes hard enough, he has the right to have the car repaired at the shop of his choice.

The problem is it has been my experience that no car getting $11,000 in repairs will ever be anywhere the same as it was. Just doesn't happen. Especially a car with as much complicated and involved electronics as the Maxima.

Tough situation.

Yeah, there has been a lot of stolen cars occuring in Bensonhurst lately.
How did they steal it when the car won't start without the RF link
to the key?

If the frame is bent you can argue that you will not accept anything other than a complete replacement. The value of the car drops significantly if the frame is bent.

Oh, that sucks, man! I'm very sorry to hear this. 11K worth of damage is alot...I'm sure its painful just to look at your old max. Make sure you push for a good repair shop and don't settle for anything sub-par. Good Luck!

The regular key would only work if you had remote start installed previously. Did you?

Sounds like you have a problem that you should seriously look into as well. The chip in your key needs to register with the transponder in the key cylinder for your car to activate the fuel and send it to your engine to start the car. You can sit there and turn a "regular" cut key all day and she'll turnover but not start. That's a form of theft deterrent as well. It's oem on my 03, so I don't see why they wouldn't put it on your newer max. Do you know how exactly it got stolen?....ie, towed, pushed, air lifted, dragged, pulled.......

i have no clue how it got stolen , and about the code key, it was actualy mad funny , because i went to a locksmith and they told me $90 dollars for a code key and i was like nuh , give me a regular copy, i opened the car with it and then started, i was F***ing shocked lol ,i couldn't believe my eyes , i took the key out and started it again , and then the next morning as you said she would just turnover but not start , it was so wierd . Anyway thanks a lot all to all of you . =]

The copied key will start the car if you have your chipped key in the pocket or somewhere around the front of the car. If you leave your original key at home, have no remote start, and try starting with the chip-less copy it will not start. If it does, NISSAN just created B/S system and you should look into suing them.

......

So if I understand correctly, you bougt a sub-$30K car and had not alarm or any kind of theft deterrent system except OEM red blinking light???? Doesn't make sense to me

That's all I got at the moment, everyones like "how can you afford a 20k$ car and not an alarm?" - I say it's not that im so rich I can afford this car, it's that I put all my money into the payments and now im broke

I don't expect tint, radio, alarm, etc for another month or so
