Finding out Value of your Used Car

Hi All,
Can someone please provide me some guidance as to what resources I can use to get the "real" value of my car, as well as the "real" value of the I car I am looking to trade in for.
Thanks.

I would say to look at all of them because they can vary in price by a couple of thousand. I sold a 96 eclipse to a friend and when I looked at what it was worth, edmunds had it at $1150 for private party. KBB had it between 2600- over 3K.

Dealers will offer wholesale. Unless your car is unique or in demand you will get wholesale or less. Most dealers use Galves as their reference or they'll call around to area wholesalers to get a price and then offer you a few hundred less.

What kind of car are you selling?

Go to autotrader.com or cars.com and see what other people are asking for the same car.

Max Value

I'm looking to sell an 04 SE with 73K. Basic model with no extras. Very good to excellent condition, new brakes, new speakers, tires are in good shape.

Selling privately is not an option. Any ideas on the range of what I should expect from the dealer?

Without looking at any reference my guess is dealers will offer 12-14K. The miles are high for a 3 yr old car- with average miles ( 45k) you'd probably get 15-16k. The major issue is you have no factory warranty left and its harder to sell a 3 yr old car without it.
