y-pipe/headers and low end power

Anyone who has installed y-pipe and headers
which one of these will help boost low end power?
Dyno numbers will only show peak power and it is
usually at high RPMs which I rarely drive over.
On my 4th gen, I had the GReddy catback exhaust
installed and removed since it hurt low end performance.

On my 4th gen, I had the cone intake with the short piping
and that hurt the low end. Then I went with the cold air intake
and it brought it back up.

I will let you know when I have my headers installed this coming week. I have the injen CAI and Greddy SP-2 cat-back system.

I've noticed that you mostly need power in the mid-top range, so the little power that is taken away on the bottom end will still make you happy when you pull harder in the mid-top end!

Header runner length determines where the said 'power' will be delivered.

If you get the ECU reflash, you will have MORE than enough low end, believe me!!

I got my ECU from Technosquare back yesterday and will put it on tomorrow. I'll let you know what the butt-dyno says regarding low end torque!!!

wonderful contribution there.

right. shorter runner lengths on your headers (runner = individual pipes coming from each head, before going into the collector/y-pipe) will give you more low end power. longer runners will do the opposite.

if you've heard of "shorties" or "long tubes" ... well, that's what those are referring to. they just don't really make them for our cars... we're kinda stuck all buying the same friggin parts. *nudges Edelbrock* hint hint.
