ok, im getting a new car, i asked about this on an SVT thread, they all called me a ricer because i said i was gonna put exhaust and rims on it...but idk i really love the maximas, and this forum is a milllion times better, so is everyone extremely happy with their cars? no problems? recalls? i should research i know and i have. i just want to hear some people who actually drive the car daily.

I've owned six Maximas since 1987. I've had minimal problems with them over the years. Perhaps the most prevalent problem has been warped rotors. But all that aside, I've tried many times to buy a different car yet always return to the Max because you can't get any more bang for your buck. The Max blends a myriad of options, that you would pay much more for on a "luxury" sedan, with a sporty car that has unbelievable cabin and trunk space. Go for it!

I'm on my 3rd Max, I agree the only problem I have ever encountered is warped rotors. I absolutely love these cars. You will not be disappointed in the least

I think the engine is a mechanical marvel, very powerfull and light. The VQ35 is widely used across the NISSAN lineup, and is a proven powerplant.
My stealership has never given me grief on anything so far for warranty work. Plenty of aftermarket parts to personalize your ride. No pushrods here.

This is my second Max. I previously owned a 2000 white SE that I drove for seven years and 166,000 miles. The The motor was still running stong when I traded her in for my 07 SE.

They are awseome cars, especially for the price.

You will enjoy it.

No just some with certain packages. I believe they are rare around here. Most Maximas I have seen have the Xenon headlights. I only know of two newer ones that do not.

Are you going new or used? What are you trying to sell? Maybe consider trading that in for your Max? Just know that most likely the stealership will offer peanuts for your trade. But if you want to dump your car without the hassle of trying to sell it, that might be the way to go.

Me too, those lights sold me as well. I have a white one and I love the color. Although that Burnt Orange or "Radiant Ember" is hot as well.

Maybe you can ****er with the dealership to give you 2g's more for your trade, or "your Maxima will just have to sit there"..... They are going to want to move that car off their lot, it isn't making them any dough sitting there. Let them know that the deal hinges on their negotiation skills.

If your in the market for a used 6th gen i think you will get a whole lot of car for your money, I paid $30,000 in 2003 for mine, and if you found one now, low miles im sure u could pick it up for $23,000 or so. It was a huge bang for the buck at 30k, so get one slightly used and its even more so.

I'm looking to buy a Maxima also...I should have posted this here maybe, so I'll just paste what I wrote in the "Shimmy" thread.

I am extremely pumped that the '04 and '05 Maximas are finally in my price range to purchase. I was doing some research and found my way here. I have driven about 5 Maximas so far. Experienced the shimmy at different speeds and also have heard a lot of constant noise from the front end on two of them. What should I be concerned about when looking to purchase an '04 or '05? The '04-'07 Maxima is one of the most beautiful cars on the market, but I don't want to make a mistake. Does anyone have any input...positive or negative? I'm encouraged by the posts I see here. My main goal is to make sure that I'm buying a car that I can put 200K miles on without having to pay for any major operations. Any thoughts?

I have an '05' SL with DPP (Driver Preferred Package) and I love it. I've had a few minor hiccups. Bose, Sunroof making a slight popping sound and mirror replaced for peeling off my homelink button. Those are all minor for a great vehicle. They were also covered under warranty.

Happy searching, we wish you the best,

Swee

yeah...omg, gotta tell a funny story...tonight me and 2 of my friends are hangin out, and this girl calls me, they were wantin to hang out so we told them to meet us, well they pull up in an 06 Mustang, its the V6 and i was like how gay...so i asked if i could drive...she lets me, and i gave it hell and it was suprisingly fast, i kept almost wrecking because i would get it sideways and then the traction control would kick in and sling me back the other way, it was funny though..just thought id share. lol

As to the xenon headlamps:

They are referred to by Nissan and most everyone on this board as HIDs (High Intensity Discharge).

ALL '04 thru '07 Maxima SLs have HIDs as standard.

All base '04 thru '07 Maxima SEs do NOT have HIDs.

If you choose a Maxima SE, to have HIDs, it must have the optional Driver Preferred Package, which also adds leather seating, better audio, two-level heated seats, heated steering wheel, and many other goodies.

Some here with base Maximas have converted the headlamps to HIDs. Many of those folks may poo-poo the effort and money required to do this. Take that with a grain of salt. Be sure and find out EXACTLY what effort and money are required before trying to convert non-HIDs to HIDs on the Maxima. Far better to purchase a Maxima already equipped with HIDs.

Just my opinion.

p.s. - I have owned nothing but Maximas since October 1984, and do not anticipate ever owning anything but Maximas until I am dead and buried. But don't let me unduly influence you. Read around on this board a lot before buying. You will find out all the things you need to check for if you are buying a used Maxima.
