Does the Maxima require a programmer with these cai's? I had an intake on my 06 Mustang and it required a tuner with canned tunes just to start and run. I am interested in opening up the exhaust a bit, looks like the Max has 3 mufflers, a center one and 2 end mufflers, am i right? Does a straight pipe in the center help these cars breathe without a tune as well?

Possible Water Damage?

So I read the threads connected to this forum, and someone mentioned that there is an added risk of damaging the engine because the CAI makes the engine more prone to water damage. Is this true? Also, what are people avaraging in terms of MPG increase. From what I have read, people get an increase of .5-1MPG.

The A34 Maxima does not need a programmer to run/start. I do see where you're coming from. The car is said to run lean from this mod, and I think I may know why, but no one wants to answer my question about the I.D. of the Fujita.

As far as the exhaust is concerned. Headers are the way to go. There is only 1 A34 that I'm aware of. Headers alone would help dramatically increase power output.

I dyno/' 233 untuned with intake and headers only, no other exhaust mods, and I have an A33B (single exhaust)

Headers from an Altima 3.5 should work with some modification. I suggest if you're serious about power output, start looking for equal length headers.

I second that ^^^^^^

Water is only an issue if plan on submersing the whole front end of your car (About 2 feet) in water. Take your time going through puddles, and try not to cross if you can't see the road through the pond. Good common sense and driving will prevent you from hydrolocking the beast.

Not an issue unless your car is doubling as a pontoon boat.

Car off? Water up to your headlights? You're fine!!!! It isn't a water tight housing that the filter sits in. Some water on it is fine. Submersing your car is another thing.

Again, don't go puddle hopping and all will be well. I believe the filter will get a little wet. I wouldn't necessarily be soaking it on purpose.....

you'll be fine with some drops as they will either dry off or be vaporized.

Yeah i think a little water is fine, especially if the filter is oiled, then the water should just roll off.

Fujita dragon ROARS when you step on it. Yes it builds up the sound and then at hight RPM it SCREAMS that hell out.

I love the fact that the "dragon" is normally asleep untill you disturb it. Then, all hell brakes loose ....Hehhe

EVERYONE, NO boltup will help your car without tuning, enjoy for maybe the first 2-5 days until your ECU hands you your a$$... ALL boltups have no benefits unless you get an ECU reflash or an APEXi tuning computer to dial the mod in. 3+ years with this issue with the 6th gen, I am NOT wrong....

Just because your ride sounds louder does not mean it's faster, suck it up because it's the TRUTH!!!

Been there, done that!!!

A little confident of ourself huh Chern?

Suck it up? Nice........

Dad accidentially bumped me.....I miss my car so bad. Some kid with a Hyndai across the street got his car all clean and pretty and took off outta here in a way that, had I had my car, I'd gladly have followed....

I don't know chern but the car really pulls. But hey, if you want to rub it in my face fine....one thing thou, in my opinion that money was well spent and even if I get 0.000001 HP increase this thing stays ON.

Not to say ECU mods will not come at some point but thats later on when warranty is a thing of a past. Till then, the sound is very satisfying even if that's all the CAI gives me at this point which I highly doubt.
