Adding TCS/VCS?

I'm sure it's been asked before but I can't find it in search (tried several times) so I'm asking now (please don't flame).

Is it possible to add TCS/VCS to my max if it doesn't have it from the factory?

once again sorry bout asking a question that I'm sure has been asked before...

It could be easy as getting ECU w/ those features and get the on/off button install. I think the dealer can answer the question for you.

I know a bunch of guys who've added it to their 300ZX, I don't see why it can't be added to the Max

It just uses the ABS sensors to sense slip, so other than light on the dashboard, it shouldn't difficult.

wow, I'm really surprised that no one has done it or heard about it being done on the max... the way some ppl on here mod their cars...

I'm very interested in it because I spun out real bad (almost driving side ways at 45 mph) the other day in the rain (I know it's my fault and could have prevented it). and would like to get it...

btw when I sent my car in for repairs at Infinity (the dealership where I bought it) they gave me a g35 for loaner and I couldn't but the tires on it for nothing!

well thanks again and i'll let ya'll know what satan says lol

i was under the impression that tcs cuts off power to the wheels until traction is regained, but under those conditions, im not sure if tcs would have helped significantly. my guess would be that you might still have wheel spin even with tcs on.

You'll get some wheel spin until the brakes are engaged and/or throttle is cut.

Did you ever find out if this is something easy to do? My wife is nervous about not having the TCS on her car...

Your wife should be as nervous about the absence VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control - Nissan's name for their stability control system) as she is TCS.

With VDC, steering and braking actions are constantly monitored and compared with the actual path of the vehicle. If the vehicle begins to oversteer (fishtail) or understeer (plow), VDC adjusts engine output and/or applies brake pressure to specific wheel(s) in order to bring things under control again.

Electronic stability control now works so well that the federal government is requiring it on all vehicles beginning in 2010. It is so important to me that I waited over a year after the 6th gens first came out in order to obtain an '04 Maxima SL with VDC. Only about 5% of the '04s had VDC.

I called 2 stealerships. The first one said it was not possible since the wiring was different. The second said it would be costly due to the "main computer" and all associated wiring would have to be rewired. He estimated like $4k.

Anyone else?

The weird thing is the manual for my 2004 it talks about (and shows) a TCS off button, separate from the VDC button. So I'm wondering if there is a simple upgrade with the button...
