Modified 2005 vs 2007

I was curious how the 2007 Maxima SE drove "ride quality wise and handling" as compared to my H&R Spring modified 2005.

My setup for my 2005 SE:
245/45-18's Bridgestone Potenza 050A Pole Position Tires
OEM Shocks all the way around
Progress Rear Sway Bar
H&R Springs all the way around
1 inch Mr Gasket Spacers on the top side rear only (leveling)

After experiencing with many setups this I found to be the best overall in terms of ride quality, handling & looks. There is no question, adding the rear springs (as oppose to fronts only) REALLY dramatically improves overall handling. After adding the rear springs I felt the need to go back to OEM shocks (had KYB GR2's) and add a rear 1 inch spacer in the rears. Between adding the spacers and going back to OEM shocks in the rear the ride quality is amazing.

I honestly believe H&R springs almost retain overall ride quality from stock but REALLY dramatically improves handling while lowering your vehicle. Be sure to add a 1 inch spacer on the top or bottom of the rear springs to get more of a leveled look.

My 2005 SE rides significantly better and handles significantly better than the 2007 Maxima SE PERIOD. The 2007 had very dull steering *as compared*, horrible driver feedback, hard steering, slow turn in, bumpy ride, & was far less fun to drive. Obviously, the RSA tires have not been broke in yet so keep that in mind. Keep in mind I'm riding on Pole Positions.

I highly recommend H&R springs combined with rear spacers for great ride quality, good looks, and superior handling. For those of you who still want very good ride quality while lowering thier vehicle go H&R!

What about Eibach Springs? Have you tried that setup?

trufully springs really don't do that much for ride quality...they are oringinally for ride height. they help a bit when it comes to rear wheel sqwat...

Springs have a whole lot to do with ride quality...PERIOD!
Also, ride height in itself has a huge effect on ride quality.
Suspension travel is directly effected by ride height.

Regarding rear squat. The stiffer the rear spring, the less rear squat.
Generally speaking, the shorter the rear spring-the less rear squat...truthfully.

I have not truthfully had the pleasure of riding on Eibachs, but feedback on this board leads me to believe they stiffen the ride a fair amount more than H&R springs. They look hella good tho along with Progress springs.

To retain (for the most part) ride quality go with HR's, for looks Eibachs or Progress.

KYB AGX 8-way adjustable gas shocks dialed up to 8 will eliminate all rear squat when hitting it!!! Back to 5 for street driving...
