Spring is here and it's time 4 New Tires!

Hi Everyone,

I know that we have a special wheel and tire section on the org...I wanted to ask around what 6 gens are using and recommending for 4 new tires.

I am keeping the original rims...I like them. I droped the ride (Eibach Pro Kit 1) and will probably change the shocks/struts to KYB GR2's.

The choices up here in Montreal, Canada are rather limited.

Toyo, Yokohama, BF Goodrich, Michelin, Hankook, Falken, Pirelli, Goodyear, Dunlop, Continental.

Ok so lets eliminate the ones that are not recommended: Dunlop, Goodyear, BF Goodrich, Continental.

Michelin and Pirelli are probably one of the best but they cost $300+ Can. per tire. Yokohamas and Toyos are OK but I don't know much about them. So that leaves Falken and Hankook. I can get Hankook Ventus V4 ES H105 V rated tires with rim protection for $188 Can ea. or $150 aprox $150 ea. or Falken 452. I checked out Tire Rack and they have some good deals on Dunlop, Pirelli and Avon.

What's the verdict....Personally I am leaning towards the Hankooks.

either Toyo or Falken for best bang for buck and great quality and feedback on the Toyo Proxxes. I have the Falken FK-452 and they grip extremely well, even in wet conditions, but they are horrible in the snow.

hope this helps a little

I LOVE my Dunlop Sport Maxx. Quieter, better traction, better ride quality. I'd put them up against any tire. They spank the Yokohama's, Pirelli's, Conti's, and Bridgestone's I've riden on.

I have the pirelli Pzeros for my audi, and this summer im looking to get some rims and another pair of pirellis for my maxima, they are great, Low road noise, great grip and simply worth the price mine where close to 300 a tire but id say hey we get cold air intakes and high preformance brakes and all that, but whats the point of all that if you cant bring all that power to the pavement. So no use being cheap on tires good luck with whatever you get

I've heard good things about those from most people running them and servicing them. Only thing that hurts is price.

Plus one on these. Awesome tires. Winter driving was tricky but not impossible.

I resaerched a shiznit load before making the purchase on the 19s. Got the Toyo T1R and have been satisfied so far. it really comes down to what you can afford. i hear the yokos make a lot of road noise, the eagles are ok, but not worth the high dollar, and the BFGs, I dont think you can go wrong with. The Dunlop Sport maxx are great from what I have read. You will be happy with what ever you get Im sure. Haggle with the dealerships. Tires Plus matched a price from tiresdepot.com and I was greatful.

I think you won't go wrong for the price with Falken and Hankook. Check the tire tests on tirerack.com.

With all the potholes, yes get something with the rim protection.

I had F1's and the didn't last that long for the high price. They are performace tires and don't work in the snow. I have Yokohama tires now and am happy with them. I do alot of driving from NY to MD and Florida and have had no problems with them.

Hi Everyone! Thanks for all the great feed back...I forgot to mention that I have 4 winter tires on Steel rims with Hub Caps...They are Michelin X-Ice 225/55/17....So the winter performance is not an issue...up here there are Hankooks for under $850 installation & tax included or the best price for the Falkens was $1,150 tax in for the 452s. That's a hug difference ($300) so it looks like Hankooks and they have big rim protectors...they look a lot like Falkens too. If only the weather would cooperate!

Thanks again for all the great feedback...I really feel that we are a family here!

I would go with Falkens FK-452... I previously had Yokos AVS ES100... they look good but are a bit noisy....
