I am wondering how rare a car an '06 Six Speed Manual trans is. Does anyone know where these numbers can be found? I know that 06' manuals were/are rare.

Wow, I didn't think it was that low. Do you know what the total production was.

I may have to hold on to this car for awhile.

It won't be a collectors item if that's what your thinking. It was either 1.47% of total production or sales in 06. Why do you think they stopped offering it, wasn't worth it from a business perspective.

The greatly reduced numbers of 6 speed '06 Maximas is in keeping with the movement of the Maxima to sports/luxury level, shifting the 4DSC title to the 3.5 Altima.

I personally feel Nissan should have kept the Maxima as the 4DSC recognized and admired across the country, possibly even adding a 4 wheel drive version, and come up with an entirely different name for their upscale sports/luxury sedan. But that didn't happen.

I also feel the only way Nissan could keep most Maxima owners happy with an upscale version of the Altima serving as the 4DSC would be if that version was so clearly separated and modified from the everyday version of the Altima (via aerodynamics package, power, etc) that it would immediately be recognized as a very special 4DSC on sight. And that didn't happen.

As a 23 year addict of the Maxima, I will continue to move upscale with it. But I regret the situation in which long-time Maxima addicts have been placed. Some will move easily to other vehicles, but many especially avid Maxima fans will have a tough choice to make.

I have an '06 6-sp that I bought new in August '06 right as the '07's were being delivered. That fact, plus the new $1,500 rebate, plus they were literally unloading a truck of '07's at the time ... meant I basically could have asked for the world to get the dealer to unload my vehicle.

Yes, I like having the Elite package, it makes the car seem a lot more expensive than it really is.
