Undocumented 2007 Bose audio feature (CD Text)
Undocumented 2007 Bose audio feature (CD Text)
Something I discovered (I think), and have been meaning to share here regarding the 2007 Maxima with Bose (monochrome) and no-navi:
When playing a CD with CD-Text, or an mp3 disc with ID3 tags for song title, normally, and documented in the manual, you can press the [CLOCK/DISP] button to change the display to include CD Text Album Title ---> Song title. The text appears in the second line of the display.
What I discovered, and can't find mention of in the manual, is that if you have a CD with CD Text (or and mp3 disc with ID3 tags) playing, and you hit and HOLD the [CLOCK/DISP] button, you'll switch to a mode where the song title or album title text will occupy both lines of the display.
Normally, with just the second line of the display showing the song title text, if its a long title, the display will start the track with the first bunch of words and after a few seconds scroll to the second bunch of words (and third or more if necessary). After that, just the first bunch of words remain.
With this two line display mode, the full title (if it fits on two lines) remains on the display. It'll do the same scroll thing for the third (and fourth) line if there is one, and then revert to lines one and two for the static display.
Pressing and holding the [CLOCK/DISP] button will also toggle back to the one-line display.

Also works for Sat
I just tried this on the way in to work today and it it is also true for Sat display. It will put the radio button #, the station number and the label I think. (B1 Ch.20 20 on 20) for XM. nothing for standard radio, just the CD and Sat. Thanks for the heads up HGN2001!!

Here's another "almost" undocumented feature. The Bose 6-CD changer in the 2007 supports mp3 discs - that's known. What's almost undocumented is that the system also supports wma discs too. The manual doesn't state that it does, but it DOES state that files other than mp3 and wma won't be playable.
Today, just for the fun of it I made a wma disc and it plays fine in the '07 Max.
