The cassette adaptor provides the best sound quality. The FM broadcast is junk, in the city at least, and equally messy (obtrusive) I think. There's always seems to be some sort of interference. But pretty much those are your two alternatives without replacing your head.
For my ten bucks, cassette tape adaptor. No question.

Nissan has an Ipod connector for our maximas.
The PAC Audio AAI-NIS2 is by far the way to go. Tried the FM, and is sheeat. Get this piece and you will be satisfied bottom line. You can pay extra for the nissan adapter to get the screen to show everything, but those are bells and whistles. If you want quality sound, install this and be done. One of the best mods that I did.
jay i have tried however its really weird cause it seems that people don't give proper opions on the matter and plus they don't give a complete discpition of everything.
plus like i said sound quality and cleaniness is vital for me! i hate clutter...thats why i don't want to go with the cassette player. tooo many wires. the FM trans is lik everyone said CRAP! espeically when you live somewhere like NY...so i've decided i want to go with something hardware however i wanted to know whats the best course of action. hence why i made this thread. i want the final verdict/opinion!
its obvious that it seems to have come down to the pac and the nissan connection. so i don't know. i wanna see both products for myself. but sorry if this is too repedative so some.

I don't know much about the PAC system, but I am about to purchase the Nissan kit myself. I actually have searched this topic before and I didn't seem to get much feedback either.
You can go to courtesyparts.com and it has a download that gives you an idea of the work involved. The price is around $200.00 for the kit and it snaps in. Supposedly less than an hour of work involved.
I have a 07 w/ nav and I am considering adding video through DVD or IPOD w/video for easier controls.
Sorry I don't have much information at this point. I will send out a link once I get mine put in my car.

I installed my ipod interface for the factory head unit. From Neo Car Audio. I works great sound quality is awesome. I can control everything the head unit or steering wheel controls.
http://www.neocaraudio.com/index.php
or
http://www.mp3yourcar.com/
Only downfall is that ipod info doesn't display on head unit. Honest to God it took 15mins to install and put everything back together.
But you are not limited to setting up a playlist and you have full access to your Ipod.

Ipod Interface Connection
Just wanted to let you know, I recently installed the ipod interface from crutchfield, cost was $129.00. Installed it in about thirty minutes, and have full control from the steering wheel control. Nice and clean install, ran the ipod wire into the bottom empty bay. Call Crutchfield, they were able to tell me that it was compatible with my car, even though the website stated it was not....
