Strange noise

What's up guys? I bought a used 05 maxima 2 months ago. My problem is that I'm hearing a strange noise coming from my car when I accelerate, mainly when my rpms get around 3k. But, It's just when I give it gas and moving, not in park. It sounds like if I was dragging a metal object that is just barely making contact with the road. I took it to the Dealer and they flushed the injectors and throttle chamber including intake plenum, and added a fuel additive to fuel tank. The sound is still there. I don't think it has anything to do with the engine since it dosen't make the noise in park when I give it gas. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also my brake pedal makes an annoying clicking noise evertime I press it. The service guy said it was normal. I don't think a $30K vehicle break pedal should make noise. Any ideas would be appreciated! Other than these things, I love the car!

Thanks

Word, that's my guess, the Stealerships obviously don't read the TSB's...

I have heard a noise simliar to that as well (between 2500-3000rpm). I bought my Max back in February, and noticied it a few weeks ago. I had heat shield rattle in my last car (QX4), and it reminds me of that. I'll be due for an oil change next week, so we will see what turns up.

On a side note, I installed my 07 spoiler last month and got the windows tinted today... let the mods begin!

Man, I appreciate the input you guys gave me! I took it to the dealership on 4/19 and told them about the bracket and that there was a TSB for it. Sure enough, I get a call that it was the bracket. It's sad that I have to tell the service advisor what the problem is. I'm just glad you guys are here to help me out. Thanks again!

Yeah, I took mine to the dealership last Friday and they said it was a loose heat shield. When I picked it up, the oil maintenance display said it had 7 miles on it already. Im not sure if thats normal driving distance to check a rattle, but I guess theres nothing I can do about it. Regardless, when I picked it up, the rattle was still there. So, I am taking it back this week and someone has to ride with me to hear it. I will tell them to check the bracket this time!

Glad they found the problem (with some help). I'm guessing you took it in to Round Rock Nissan.?.? I've been fairly pleased with those guys up there, although I haven't had to use them a whole lot (thankfully). I had a similar noise at ~2k RPM but my brackets look good. I think I got it to go away by wedging something between the heat shields that wrap the pipe near the "Y". I hope it stays gone.

I have a 06' SE and have a random pop/cracking noise coming from the back windshield. It doesn't necessarily pop when you hit a bump in the road, it randomly pops and cracks without notice??? I took it back to dealer and first they wanted to replace whole back window but then decided to replace the seal. After they took it to a glass specialist, they determined the seal needed lubrication. It seemed to help for a while, but still pops without reason.

I've noticed recently that when I first start the car in the morning that I sometimes get this sound when I make the first turn of the day, but only for about 10-20 degrees of a turn of the wheel. I had this happen on my old '94 Plymouth Sundance on cold mornings, but it would happen henever it was cold and happen for a much wider wheel turn. It kind of sounds like a low humming sound, and might be described as a stretching noise.

This is in an early build 2004 (was made in September of '03, when I bought it). I haven't heard of this from anyone else.

I too usually hear a clicking noise when I start the engine the brake pedal. It's not always there, but it is a lot of the time... I don't think any thing is wrong, just kind of odd. Maybe someone else can chime in here?

If I'm thinking what you have is what I had on my '04 Maxima, the dealer fixed it for me, but it returned a year or two later. Apparently, like a poster said here, it was something to do with brackets on the exhaust.

It was a rattling of sorts, right? You heard it mainly from dead stops up to about 20, 25 mph right?

I had the same thing (buzzing at 3000RPM). Went to the dealership, fixed the bracket (under 100k warranty) and is all gone.

BTW, I "upgraded my maxima from 99 SE to 04 SL. It' so nice....
