anyone with a back-up camera? question...

where on our cars can we install a back-up camera? i'm thinking of getting one tomorrow at work, i can get it for a very good deal so i'm thinking why not. i know how to do all the wiring, just wondering where the hell i'm going to stick that? i dont want to cut a hole in my trunk like i saw some at the Markham park meet, can i put it on the underside of the rear bumper? how do I run the cable from there into the inside of the car? once the cable's inside the car, i'm good to go...

any help/comments appreciated. by the way, it would be the Kenwood CCD-900 to go with my Kenwood DDX6019 system...

you have to look at your options:

custom install

under bumper- might have to drill a hole

the licence plate camera- is a licence plate shroud with a camera built in to it

rear windshield

there are lots of places you can put one and not have to drill a hole or so.

I don't have one to really give you a diffinate answer, so I'll bump it.

ankit, i saw those now and they look great. better than i would have imagined, however, the only reason i decided to put this camera in after all was because i was able to get it at $50 brand new from my job. so its either this camera, or i wont get it at all. i don't really care for having it that much, but i'm going to have it, i want to do it as well as i can :-)

any more ideas?

You can get them off EBAY for like $20-$30 bucks all day long. Mine is mounted under the rear bumper and you get a good view out the rear.
It's mounted with a metal bracket bent in a "U" shape and mounted underneath the lip of the bumper. Been there for over 3 years now...

Here's the one I have, $30...

well if that works, then i'm sure going to get mine tomorrow. the one i'm getting retails for $200 and goes on ebay for like $150 after shipping...so i'm happy with the deal i'm getting...

jsmithsole, you mind sharing with me how you ran the cable from outside into the car? that's like i said, the one thing that's going to stop me during installation unless i get some idea from someone who's done it.

I didn't install it myself and I have tried to follow the wire but I can't see where they ran it to. I've looked several times over the years, sorry!

So what camera are you getting, with all those cheap ones on EBAY I'd like to see what yours does. Not ripping on what you are getting just curious...

well it's the one that's made for my system. Kenwood CCD900, for my Kenwood dvd player. for $10-15 more than the ebay ones i'd rather get my original one

i guess i'll have to figure out the cabling later on in the week, but i'm going to get it today, for sure

I also have a license plate camera, but the angle of view is not the best because of the vibrations.

Is that a reflection of a cloud or is that some hardcore swirls and scratches where the "3.5 SE" used to be?

camera is something different, but do you honestly need it, or is it more of a "show" mod? Make sure no one jacks it!

If you don't have navigation, then you have the orange display screen I guess? In that case, you need to get a dash kit and add an aftermarket head unit that has a video input for the camera.
