my first youtube video..check it out

i made my first youtube video yesterday. it was an impulse thing, decided to record everything i've done to the car so far. most of it is little things here and there, and nothing done too fancy, bust 90% of it has been done without an installer...some more things on the way...but that's it for now, let me know what you think of the work so far

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVLyX23NL_g

by the way, i originally explained everything on the video, but decided to just play the track over the video and cut out my voice. if there's anything you have a question about, shoot it at me

what adapter are you talking about?
thanks for the comments, but just to point out, the video can be deceiving. i am NOT happy with my paint. it has gotten scratched, knicked and just generally screwed up in the year i've had the car. it needs a repaint badly imo, but that has to wait...

jsmith, i would love to see your beast in a video, you're 100x more than what i've done, and i've like to see some of the things you've done working

thanks! i added a new, short video. if you click on the link above, to the right will say "more from this user", you can see in that video the gps antenna, then you'll see the xbox 360 being played on the top screen and monitors (though you don't see the headrest in the video) while the bottom screen shows the navigation. that's why i like my setup so much, whenever we go somewhere far, there's either gaming going on or a movie playing

as far as adapter goes I'm referring to the navi center console display. As for the paint I must agree. Nissan went cheap on paint job so disappointed in them.

well that's all simple. the installer just cut out the faceplate to fit the Kenwood unit, it's screwed in the original bezel where the cd changer was screwed to. the installer just left it like that, what must of your custom units look like. i didnt like the end result, so my gf and i went around looking for some chrome lining strips to kind of frame the unit, and we found this one that's double chrome lining with leather strip in the middle. it works well. we did it ourselves, just takes some cutting and taping and that's it

Looks good man, is that the Kenwood dnx 7100? If so I had the same unit installed on Monday (with xm and bluetooth and rearview camera), I also had my headrest monitors installed too - I went with 11 inches though.

thanks man. mine unit is the DDX6019, i think the 7100 came out afterwards. can't you change the background on yours? i think that's the one thing i miss not having the most! for the headrests, when i got them Innovatek only had them up to 9", now for $50 more i can get them in 11" but what am i gonna do you know? too late

anyways, why would you sell your carputer to go to a system like this man? i think what you had before was way better...

Yes, I can change the background on the 7100.
I needed the dual zone feature; I have a one year old who gets really antsy in the car. Now I can have the navi going up front and Baby Einstein in the back. I do agree that, in just about all other regards, the carputer was way more flexible. But alas it was time for a change, I miss it already.

read the sticky on how to remove the dash...that's how i did it the first time. if you want next time i'm online i'll write you up how i do it pretty much everyweek and it's sooo easy to get up there and to all that stuff. once you do it the first time, it's mindless everytime i think

anyways, unmatched i understand what you're talking about now. also keep in mind you should also have dual sound, so in the front you can have your radio and the baby can hear the baby einstein thing in the back. i guess it is useful after all:-)
