UPS Ground and take as much air out of the tires as possible. I paid $125.00 to ship all 4 when I sold mine last year. I made thick round cardboard cutouts to protect the rims, taped them on then stuffed them in big trashbags and taped securely. No problem, that's how tirerack ships tire/wheel combo's... Good Luck

250? That's just way to much..and they're only 18's. You did say the price includes a BOX (sounds like a single box)....Hopefully you didn't stick it all in one BOX (I don't think you did cuz that would be a huge heavy box just for you to carry. But for some odd reason you did put it all in one huge box, You're suppose to ship each rim individually in its own box so you got 4 boxes to ship. Shipping company and type of service effects price big time...Yes, try FEDEX Ground.
Okay I can help here. Open a FedEx account under a business name. Bob Schmidt Enterprises (you can use your name here). There aren't any fees or anything. An account is ENTIRELY free.
With your new business account, it will be almost 50% less than Fed Ex's going rate.
I know this because I have a business and ship using FedEx often. It is true that they are cheaper than UPS.

You sold the rims shipped before you got a quote..?
Try DHL. I've also heard alot of people use Greyhound. Very cheap but it will take a little longer. I had a buddy ship an R/C plane greyhound. I believe he paid 30 somethin dollars.

NOOOOO, USPS is by far most expensive. They don't ship heavy stuff and when you do they charge arm and leg...or two.
Go to an independent shipping/supplies store that ships with UPS/Fedex/DHL. They sometimes throw in a free box and packaging if it's a huge item (like wheels/tires). Also, don't ship all four together. Ship 2 and 2 to keep the weight below freight/overweight. Both times I shipped wheels+tires, it was around 150 give or take a few dollars.

Does air have weight? Yes, it certainly does, like all matter. One liter of air weighs about 1.3 gram at ordinary temperature and pressure. For comparison, one liter of liquid water weighs 1000 grams. Quite a difference, as you would expect. A gas is made of molecules that are very far apart, so there are not too many of them in any volume, compared to a liquid or a solid.
Air is composed of a mixtures of gases - mostly nitrogen and oxygen - and even gases have weight (or mass, as we say in the laboratory). If you were to take that one liter of air, weighing 1.3 grams, and make it so cold that it condensed into a liquid, it would still weigh - guess what? - 1.3 grams, but it would now occupy a much smaller volume.
