Ripped off underside of fro bumper

Hey guys,

I left my wife borrow my car for the day. In 25 minutes she managed to put a ding in my door AND rip off the black plastic thing under the front bumper. She parked too far in on a parking spot and I guess hooked it on the cement parking noozle.

Is this part necessary? All the little black plastic fasteners were ripped clean off. It appears as if it covered up the bottom of the fan. If it’s not doing anything detrimental I’m not going to call Nissan to replace (God knows how much they'll want for a 10x12 piece of plastic).

If anyone wants pics I’ll snap some.

I'd leave it off also. It has been thourghly debated about that piece causing a shimmy in the wheel.

Noozle? You mean a parking block? Or parking stump.

Yeah, Noozle, anything that can't be easily decribed is a noozle

But yeah its the parking block. It'd be awesome if that fixed my shimmy. Nothing else including the road force balancing has done anything for it. My next step was new shoes.

TSB. If badly damaged or missing the TSB instructs the dealer to install a new one.

I just put a new one on. They have screwa now so that won't fall off. Iy also keeps all the rain and stuff from going on the engine.

probably better to buy the 50 dollar piece of plastic. Might save you some headache down the road if crap gets into your engine.

the purpose of this "noozle" is aero-dynamics, not really a splash guard. It diffuses air away from coming up into the engine bay causing wind resistance. I planned on fabricating a new one to fit the new bumper, but can't find the time...

I keep hearing that this plastic flap noozle thing is partially the cause of the shimmying. Yet I dont want to remove the whole thing and then allow junk to get up into the engine. You think if I take off the whole plastic, cut off the flap part that sticks down, and then reassemble, that it will help the shimmying ease up a bit?

LOL too funny Chern!

But yeah man, what were you thinking letting the wife drive your max?? I learned that lesson when my (Now Ex) wife totalled my Z-28 back in '96. I was soooo pissed. I just don't let women drive my cars anymore, but hey I'm single so I know it can be hard for you married pukes. I feel ya!

p.s. My noozle is starting to get fairly beat up as well. Those damn concrete parking blocks are no longer my friend! But you guys have me curious for sure. I'll have to kneel down and take a peep under my front end today to see what's going on.
