Just thought I'de share my new ride

I had an 02 6spd but was getting tired of all of the minor things wrong with it and figured i can pay a monthly payment plus repairs or pay a little more and have one with less than half the miles that wont hve anything wrong for a while.

I have to say this is far more luxurious than the 02, and its fully loaded excep nav.

Congratulations, also got a month ago a Silver '04 SE fully loaded with no navi., outside is just like yours, even the mudguards. Love this car, had to do wheel balance and alignment, but now runs awesome. You will love this car, best car buying decision I've made in years. I do have a problem though, my exhaust pipes, the tips of it are rusted on the left side and breaking off. I found some on eBay for $35, it seems for a set of 2 (meaning one side). Do you have the same problem?

They are a little rusted but not much, not enought to be flaking apart. So far I love it, its so much different than the 02. It shifts soooo much nicer with none of the notchy feeling. The factory bose is 10 times better so I dont think I'll have to install my old sub. The guy that had it before me took really good care of it and it even has a 3m clear bra on the hood, headlights, and side mirrors. The only thing I miss is the sound of my berk intake and lss b pipe. I will most likely bet getting an intake for this aswell. Ive been reading about the 6th gen ecu relearning the a/f and putting the car back to stock, did anyone ever get clarification on this?

There is mixed reactions to this.

I'm not sure if it's related, but I dyno-ed last weekend. I have the Fujita intake. I haven't reflashed my ECU or done anything with it. My dyno numbers were 218whp and 232 torque. If the computer had reset itself to the original settings, I wouldn't have done so well. I've had the intake since last December, so it isn't like I bought it the day before.

I tend to believe that it is a myth that it resets itself back to the original settings.

Do you have any other mods? Have you dynod before the intake? Those numbers seem awesome.

now, i hope i dont upset anyone, i'm just speaking from MY OPINION, ok?

why wouldn't you trade in your 02 for an 03? 03 by stats has a huge amount of reduced probs, and 04-06 are just plain ol' UGLY! ?? no?

03 MAX ALL THE WAY! best nissan maxima styling since 1998-99

Hmmm I just want to know if 6th gen people go around bashing other gen max's. It's almost like the Altima SE-R forums in here.... Everybody complains how fugly the 6th gen is. I'm sure he wouldn't have bought it if it was ugly to him...
Hey atleast he doesn't have to worry about his headlights!!

Most of us are used to it because when we get a previous gen owner who crossed over to 6th gen, they commented on how good a 6th gen really is. I'm one of them. I mentioned this analogy before, it's like caveman and fire.

^^^^Ouch, that was definately felt below the belt. (Funny as all get out though). 02-03 have more problems than the 04-06 generation IMO. CoilPacks, VQ3.5 oil consumption, HID theft......Easy there Tiger.

I didn't do a baseline dyno. My only mods (that I can think of anyway) are:

Fujita CAI
Progress RSB
Progress Springs
20% Tint (I'm sure that's what gave me incredible numbers)
Bosch Icon wipers (Garbage-AKA dead Weight)
Billet Grille
www.6thgenmaxima.org decals (Good for some hp in there)
I kept with the OEM tire size of 225/55/17's but put Yoyomamas YK520's on there.

I have a dynograph I can post if you'd like. I don't mind, I just don't want to tread on someone elses thread.

The ECU will adjust for best performance output within it's stock parameters, ie throttle position and timing. Some have lost power depending on mods. So to get more from your mods, you would need either a piggyback or reflashed.

Compare to what? A "big", "fat", "ugly", and built by the same people who complain about "quality" car that can perform as well if not better.

Who's to say that 5.5 gens weren't test mules for 6th gens, just like 6.5 gens are test mules for 7th gens. That's how cars get better with each gen model,

Thanks for the welcoming, sorry didnt mean to start a 5.5 vs 6th gen debate. I liked my 5.5 it was just up there in miles. I already replaced the battery, o2 sensor and maf in it and i needed more work, so i just decided to get rid of it.

Wouldnt mind takin a look at your dyno swee, it would be appreciated.

Please grin and bear in mind it was my first dyno, and all I had engine-wise was/is a Fujita CAI.

respect!

i really didn't mean to bash - i was speaking in my opinion, i mentioned that in my disclaimer! But 6th gen is ok.. the interior is sweet. but if I was upgrading, I’d go to a 6.5gen. (2007+) now that’s nice. They finally put the fogs where they belong and got rid of the pointless side lenses in the bumper?!? And 6th gen does have the BEST looking proj. xenons on the road, FACT! And yes WHITE is SEXY!
