Sunroof problems

Its been nice out in NYC these days so i've been driving with my sunroof open. for a few days now, i've heard some kind of loud clicking noise coming from the sunroof but it only happened once in a while. It's real loud.
Now here's the kicker. I was going about 75-80 today with the sunroof open and i heard the clicking noise and all of a sudden, i look in my rearview mirror and the friggin roof of the car looked like it was collapsing. from the inside, it looked like an anvil fell on my roof. when i stopped my car, i just pushed the thing up a little and it snapped back into place. but i could tell that the top is kind of loose.

The problem is that my warranty is done (over 36K). There's definitely something wrong because if the top just comes down like that, its definitely not a sturdy car. Is there anything i could go on my own or would the dealer be the only option?

This sucks, i almost want to just get rid of my car. who expects a car's roof to cave in, seriously...

Oh man, that sucks. I've felt something on the roof once before, but it hasn't done it recently.

Could it be because it has a lot of dirt stuck in there or something like that?

dude, i would take it to the dealership. see what they have to say. It maybe an easy fix. If your warranty is over, then better get some super glue super mario!

Is it superglue that holds it there? Because if it is, if there is a way i could remove it and put it back together, i would just do that and not have to go through the hassle with the dealership.

So, your headliner is collapsing from all the pressure from the sunroof open?

Just trying to understand.

If that is the case, then something is not right. It certainly should NOT do that.

try checking right where the headliner meets the sunroof and see if there is an opening or a gap for air to just swarm into there and push it down; if there is, then figure out a way to "close" that entrance...easy as that

There is a TSB out for the headliner coming loose at the sunroof. It involves hot gluing some more foam blocks with Velco on them along the front edge of the headliner. I had already done that before I found the TSB.

My sunroof makes a loud click as well when closing. It isn't all the time. I have taken it to the dealership for this several times. They don't know why it is doing this and how to make it stop.

I have never seen my roof do that though. I would most certainly take it in though. Ask if that was a special feature that came with your car/package.

Sorry to reopen an old thread. I've got an 08 that just did the same thing, at about 80 the velcro ripped loose and scared the sh** out of me . I thought the whole works was going to be in my lap. The dealership thinks the headliner is creased and wants to replace it, does anyone have the TSB#? I'm not thrilled about letting them tear the interior out of the car, 1100 miles btw. Thanks for help. Frank

Finally saw/looked at the sticky at the top of the home page. Might be the best $10 I've spent.

Wow, that is a new one. You want to be able to enjoy your sunroof................so, as I understand it, the headliner is coming loose at speed with the sunroof open?

Any update on this as my sunroof does the same with the clicking upon closing the roof.

With your sun-roof open you should see the wind deflector...gently bend it towards you and the thumping will go away.
