Rear window molding...

My rear window molding has been oozing out crap for a while, so I decided to replace it. When I got the new molding, it looked different but I the guy confirmed that it was the correct part number and I went outside and looked at other 6th gens out on the lot and they looked good, so I figured I would try it. I cleaned up my gooy crap on the rear window and started to put the new seal on.

I have no idea how you put this seal on in a good way without having the window out or having some sort of tool to tuck the taped part of the seal under the window! And about 6 inches on the right side isn't even sticking properly. Do you guys think that if I were to just take the seal out and not have one there, then that would be a problem? The window is already chalked down and this seems to be as just a visual enhancer to the window to eliminate the gap that is there.

Another thing is that the other seal that is used for the front windshield looks like it would work great on the rear. At first the guy gave me that and noticed that it wasn't the right one so he gave me the right one, but in the mean time, I took both of them and compared to the front and rear windows. The front is about 5 inches longer, but would work great if it was to be trimmed a little bit.

Main question...is it alright to not have that "seal" there, even though it doesn't really seal anything...

thanks,
dan

Sounds like you might have to break down and have an auto glass place install it. They problably have just the right tool for the job.

I think I am going to get the front windshield molding and trim it a little bit. It is the exact one that I had before...don't ask me why
