I dunno if it's me but my 18's ride like isht!!! I think my stealership sucks actually and I think that's the cause of most of my problems. I'm actually seriously considering 17's if I can't get this car to ride smoothly.

BF is used by Chernmax for 1/4 times.
Toyo is used by Kamski for technical track.
BF NT 255/45ZR18 300-AA-A Y 99 BW $254.99
TR1 255/45ZR18 280-AA-A Y 99 BW $205.99
$50 per tire is the diff. Its up too you. But both Tires are out of this world and will embaress the stock Good Year RSA.

Hi!
A local dealer just proposed a set of 4 Nankang 245/45 18's for my 2005 Maxima.
Anyone with any knowledge on these tires?
That dealer said that the Hankooks are crappy (H104 or H105) , the Falkens 452's are expensive and not worth it. The Bridgestones & Pirellis are even more expensive. In Canada even though the dollar is almost at par now. A set of Pirellis or Bridgestones or Michelins in 245 will set you back anywhere from 300 ea to 400 ea!
The Nankang NS II's are only $160 ea installed & balanced. that's pretty good.

Yeah looks and perfromance sometimes might be 2 different things, but if you are going for looks the 4th gen is smaller than the 5th and 6th gen. Imo 18z look just right on a 4th gen but 19z look hot too. Like Vip Maxima's car etc. If you have a body kit that's a factor too. As far as 5th and 6th gens go, if the 5th gen has a kit, 19z, for a 6th gen, 19z no matter what. I base the size of the rims on body size IF you are just going for looks.

18's will always perform better than 19's in general. Although you could find some 19's taht are lighter than 18's but since your focus is performance over looks, to save on budget, jump on 18's. I think 19's would look better on the car though, you always want to go one size higher than what your car comes with stock.

17" are stock on SL and 18" are stock on SE.
My point was that 19" is like a perfect size, not to big, not to small, and with RAYS being ultra light you don't add weight by going to a larger size rims. Most 20" rims are HEAVY. In addition, your tire profile goes down from 45 to 40 only improving traction and handling but still good enough not to kill the comfort.

In my opinion 18's are just fine and 245/45 is more really what these cars need. I think 235s would suit just fine.
Don't forget - wider tires increase turning radius and load on suspension.
Bigger rims - increase ride bumpiness.
Just my opinion as a former 98 bmw540iA owner.

From what I have seen, the price for tires goes much much higher for 19" rims which is why I stuck with 18"s

I know how great these guys are because we bought it for my bro right after you did. These are some light 19s with space for BBK and a half.
