mightymax5 - The diesel will not be available during the first year of the 7th gen ('09 model arriving next spring), but will most likely arrive (per Nissan) with the '10 model in summer of 2009.

Like you, I will be very interested in seeing the torque numbers for the newly-designed, quiet, smokeless diesel engine Nissan is building.

the only car i would trade this maxima in for is a 2002-06 Q45, ecu upgrade and throttle body upgrade FTW
Hate the Q!! Don't miss it either! I;d get the M45 b4 I look at the Q.

Maxima isn't going anywhere.... Manual Max...... is gone

AWD..... If they offer AWD.... then i'm sure they would offer v8...

Would they need to? Maybe not... But I can't see them doing AWD unless then needed to....

They're bringing "4DSC" Back! Max shall be flagship once again!

Lengthwise.... i'd venture slightly shorter then the cls though.... I just hope they make so that it can accommodate a greater selection of wheels/offsets.

The alty sedan has 270hp also doesn't it? 6 speed available in the alty sedan vs CVT only in the max. Those new Altimas are really starting to grow on me.

Up until about a year and a half ago I was a Nissan Salesman....trust me, the Maxima > Altima without a doubt. Based on the information our Nissan rep gave us, although they have been planning the redesign of the Altima and Maxima for quite some time, the plan has always been to keep the Maxima bigger, better, and more powerful.
