1/4 mile

Yesterday after the show I had my friend my car. I had laser work done on my left eye and didn't want to take chances driving. I had no place to put my speakers and some other stuff. I had no fire proof jacket so the juice was not used. When I come back from my trip in August my eye should be better and I will run again with a empty trunk.

1st run was 14.88
2nd run was 14.72 beat a G35
I will post slips when I have a chance.

Nice run!! THe Z only beat you by 0.2? Wow, I thought they were a little faster than that. Can't wait to see your times when you are set for a race and not lugging that big azz trophy down the track too!!

Thanks for the comments.

Trunk was loaded, had no where to put it after the show. The trunk will be empty next time. Also I will make sure that I go in with less than a 1/2 tank of gas.

If available, try to use Chevron 93. Myself and a buddy of mine with a 5.5 Gen swear that Chevron gives you an extra umff.

Also, if you can, remove the rear and front passenger seat.

They were selling 100, 106 and 120 octane at the track. I wouldn't put that in my tank, it might blow up my car. lol.

I just have to find someone my size who has a fire proof jack I could borrow. You can't run juice if you don't have one.

Ramberg, Id suggest running the 100 octane as long as its unleaded. If you run with 1/4 tank, you will only need 1-2 gallons of 100 octane and the rest 91, unless you can get 93 octane. It wont blow up your car.

ramberg: running 100+ is fine for your car... 120 might be a bit much.. but if u can find like a 91 or 93 then buy an octaine booster from a local car shop.. IE Kragen/auto zone/ shcucks/ etc... that will boost your octaine to around 98-100.... should feel and see a nice difference

Great runs....I bet you can't wait to get behind the wheel yourself and but wise choice not to drive yet.

What did your car weigh? Are you going to take out the seats etc too? At this point it's not something I'm willing to do. I switch from a sub box to infinite baffle to help reduce weight and took mats out and still clocked in at 3,700lb.

High Octane

I'm just wondering why you would be concerned about your engine with high octane when nos juice has more of a chance of burning a hole in your pistons?

When using NOS properly, which I'm sure Ramberg does, running with the incorrect octane gas would be a bigger concern. The reason being that many people underestimate the damage of driving with improper fuel. In most cases, higher octane gas above what's recommended by the manufacturer will bring very minimal to no performance gains when you start deviating from what the engine was built to run on.

Sorry to deviate OT again (please don't get me banned Fastmax cause I may ), but why is there so much haterade on SickSE?

thats an awesome photo !! nice runs too !

if your racing a maxima without any sort of forced induction, 93 is perfect. Now you can pay more for 100 octane but i have raced many times using both and didnt see any difference in times. Certainly wouldnt hurt anything if its unleaded like stated above. If you put it in at the track, might take it awhile to get flowing. Better idea would be to put some in on the way to the track.(* note: 4th Gen Max)

maxima is a big car with big reserve tank, race on 1/8th tank, lol ! if it makes you nervous have a small gas can nearby. but i do this all the time, and never ran out.

keep up the good work ramberg !!!!!!!

It's been taken out of proportion slightly but SickSE just had a rather immature attitude and had a tendency to be off-topic too.

i know a chick with a fully built 'teg and she runs 126oct to the track. it blows my mind because when i raced 2-cycles we used shell 93oct and bended it 50/50 with C-12 (VP racing Fuels; love'em) which it 115oct iirc. the blend yeilded the best performance according to the bench dyno and the engine builder. We're not running as many RPMs or heat as a two cycle but yielded and octane of around 105; which should work excellent in the VQ. Try that, just run your tank down under an 1/8th and pop 2-2.5 gallons of the 120 unled. in. we usually blended in a small can but it should be fine if you give it some time to sit in the tank.

Haha good stuff, I'm sure they are all keepers too. I know you're proud man. I tell ya guys, I'd love for some of us to be able to hook up one weekend at a track and do some quarter miling then have a few beers after. That would be awesome. We could just swarm the place with maxima's.

I always love to see track discussions! Looks like it was a nice day for racing.

I need to get an NHRA approved fire jacket since I now have nitrous. My local track doesn't have a tech inspection. But I plan to start visiting other tracks in my area in hopes to see better track prep. So I'll need one more than likely.
