Now, I see Nissan as shifting (no pun intended lol) the Maxima into the realm of ultra-luxury sedans, and moving the Altima into the luxury-sports sedan (or coupe now) into the void left by the maxima.
WOW that was really well worded and well put.. you should be like one of those people on the car shows and stuff... you could combine poetry with car talk... lol... for real!!!

They'll put the new 3.7L engine in the new one, right??
I figure ~300hp..... FWD

Being that Altima is taking place of Maxima, I thing the new one should be RWD.

just my 2c

Does anyone know when it may come out? I lost my 4th gen in a wreck last May due to some idiot drunk driver. I was hoping to keep that car forever. I don't know if I should get an 05 to 07 maximanow or wait till God knows when for this to come out. I read somewhere that the concept design would be revealed at next winter's autoshow. Meaning 2008? Which would mean it wouldn't be out till summer of 09? I don't think I can manage driving this little 02 sentra that my dad let me use for that long. It's torture for a 6'2" guy who loves the speed and handling of the max.

I love my car but if I had to replace it I would go with an Acura TL, but I already own a 6th Gen, your coming from a 4th Gen.

Somehow I see Nissan just completely missing the target, only time will tell, I hope it's helps Nissan like the 3rd Gen Altima

Athlon Omega - The '08s are now beginning to arrive at dealers. You won't notice them unless you look at the window stickers, as they are the same as the revamped '07s.

As to the 7th gen, it will arrive as the '09 model year. We should see the first spy shots within about three months, and the first official release of photos from Nissan between mid-December and mid-January (in conjunction with whatever national auto show the new Maxima will be unveiled).

I would bet the earliest they will be on dealer's lots would be March 2008, and the latest June 2008. If I had to guess one month, it would be April 2008. That is just 8 months away.

The 7th gen will be larger, heavier, more luxurious, and more powerful than the 6th gen. According to Goshn, it will retain (and maybe improve) its sporting edge. We will see.

Really? Wow. I might just have to wait then. The reports made it seem like the spyshots would come out in the winter of '08. My dad was going to help me with the purchase of a new max since I didn't get that much from the insurance company for my ride. It would have been much easier waiting for one if I still had my her.
