Altima SE-R exhaust?

We have tried and succeeded with fitting the FSB from the Altima SE-R and now my tech says that we can achieve the sound of the Altima SE-R, which resembles the 350Z a little bit, by getting the SE-R exhaust-he said that the exhausts are identical and by just replacing from the y-pipe back (I would prefer to have the quad tip mufflers instead of the single SE-R tips) would give us a nice growl and a little more performance from the less restrictive piping...

Not feeling the mufflers too much (no offense to you, but it's just not what I'm looking for, and the price is a little out there too...BUT, how is the sound compared to stock?)

I also like the look of the quad exhaust. sounds like a good mod and if it turns out good, I would definitly look into it for my car. Did the tech state how much it would cost for part/labor?

my freind put the SER exhaust on his 2.5 altima. He also has headers..nismo i think.

well when he first started it, i actually saw him die a little inside. When he ordered the altima ser exhaust, they have a small resonator. he has no cats because of the headers. it sounds awful like someone farting into a megaphone lol..

I dont think you will gain much if any in performance. The altima SER exhaust still has the restrictive crush in it were it goes underneath the gas tank i believe. It reduces the pipe to about half its diameter. the mufflers may flow a little better, they look to be a straight thru design. The sound will be louder, by how much i couldnt tell you, but if your running factory headers and still have your cats in it should sound pretty good. Perhaps sound just like the SER.

oh should add, he got the whole SER exhaust from y-pipe back, or header back from him for about 550CAD. Given me and him both work at a nissan dealer, so we get cost + 10%. honestly, id go for an aftermarket catback, about the same price, and will give you better gains then the factory pressure bent oem, along with the reduction in the pipe diameter by the gas tank.

.
I'm guessing the sound is related to the fact that your friend has a 2.5L vs 3.5L.

ya well i knew it wouldnt sound ANYTHING like the VQ35. But i expected a low mellow tone. he had some rice can on it before. I expected it to be a lot quieter with a deepish tone. instead its louder then his old exhaust, sounds 20x worse..and his car sounded like a rice-mobile with his old one too. you cant even imagine how bad it sounds lol..

If you go to the Altimas.net website I believe they have clips. Ive heard an Altima SE-R with a y-pipe and it does sound nice. Its something about the piping after the y-pipe.

or altima/maxima owners can buy a 350z/g35 and put an end to the "how can i make my exhaust sound like a 350z/g35 threads" if people had the money they would, if they already own a maxima, theres probably a reason why they bought it and not an altima.

that comment about the 350z/g35 exhaust note has nothing to do with the OP. just pointing something out.
