Finally done installing carputer

All the info about the carputer can be found here http://carcpu.com

I bought this from UnMaTcHeD took 3 days (about 3hrs of work each day) to finish this project. I asked the local audio shop( car toys) for a quote and they told me $800 so i just decided i will do it my self.

Its got Full Navigation, bluetooth, WiFi, Powermate, and its has a touch screen. The software for navi is Iguidance. Sorry pics are a bit blurry Ill take more pictures tom evening so check back

the whole setup cost me about $785.

this is powermate, used for controlling volume and going forward and backward in movies.

I'd probably put the keyboard somewhere else. I just remember seeing people leave stuff on the dashboard and it prevents the dashboard from aging correctly...so you'll have uneven dashboard colors.

The keyboard is wireless (portable), I am sure he only placed it there for the pics.

I guess you just can't read..." The keyboard is there ONLY for the picture."

I expected someone to post a pointless and a dumb post...

Just fyi, if you're an audio nut you should know that Windows kmixer upsamples all audio to 48kHz. Many can't hear it but it creates a "computerized" effect that people notice when doing A/B comparisons. Personally it bothers my ears and I try to avoid it whenever possible.

You'd have to get a special sound card like an X-Fi and specify 44.1kHz bit-perfect playback in its settings.

This is an aging thread on AVS but has more info if you wanna read up on it further:

Nice setup. Besides all the great stuff like A/V and Navi, what else do you plan to do with your carputer? Engine tuning perhaps? I'm just curious since I'm a bit of a computer geek and love to see this type of setup used to its fullest.

There is a piece called the fusion i/o board on mp3car.com that can control multiple relays if you have an open pci slot. You then have to figure out what you can use a bunch of relays for like motors and actuators, a tricked out show car would benefit best. There is also a serial port temperature add on that can monitor 4 temperatures, you can probably do intake air, etc, depending on what the max already monitors in cabin. Weather on the fly and gps gas are already worth it and the user interface is just awesome to have on a carputer.
Just got mine running last night but still need to get my wifi and gps hardware stuff, also save up for iguidance 4.

This seems like a very cool thing to do. I want to learn all I can about this because I plan to do it later on in the future when I get the confidence ;-) I would like to know how you got that shyt for so cheap and when I looked it was 4 figures....I really dont need all the memory and junk cuz I can add it later or get it for free at Best Buy.... I need some help in deciding what screen I would like though cuz I dont wanna order off that site.
