P0183 SES Light Problem ** HELP **
hey guys I am having a small problem with my 06 maxima. I recently installed the AAI-NIS2 from PAC along with a PXP01 from Peripheral Electronics to make a mount for my ipod. It is right by my shifter not that it matters but now I am getting an SES light.
Engine code pulled from Auto Zone:
P0183:
The PCM has determined that the input voltage from the fuel temperature sensor "A" is higher than the calibrated limit indicating a lower than normal temperature.
Possible causes:
Fuel temperature sensor defective. Check computer and wiring to sensor.
Code from Service Manual:
The fuel tank temperature sensor is used to detect the fuel temperature
inside the fuel tank. The sensor modifies a voltage signal from
the ECM. The modified signal returns to the ECM as the fuel temperature
input. The sensor uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the
change in temperature. The electrical resistance of the thermistor
decreases as temperature increases.
P0183 Fuel tank temperature sensor
0183
Fuel tank temperature
sensor circuit high input
An excessively high voltage from the sensor is
sent to ECM.
The store who installed it basically made a mount that I could hold my Ipod in and had the PXP01 wire run to it. It runs from the center console under the shifter plate and up to my mount. I will provide pictures soon.
Could it be that the actual sensor has failed? Or should I consult the installer to check that he reconnected any and all grounds he may have messed with? I probably will take it to Nissan on Monday morning however I worry they are going to force me to pay for it. HELP! Hopefully the store is open tomorrow to handle this for me.

Autozone can only read codes. P0183 is high voltage from sensor to ECU. A real OBD-II analyser could give you the sensor's fuel temperature reading. Something above 4 volts in the summer would say bad sensor but near 12v would indicate a 12v feed (the AAI-NIS2).
Dealer may ask you to disconnect the aftermarket accessory before they run OBD-II diagnostics.
