Are suicide doors even legal in the U.S.? I thought they were 'regulated out' in production line vehicles eons ago.

I don't think suicide doors will make it in to production even if legal, but certainly some cues from this car will be, or is, making it's way to 7th gen Max.

The idea of a diesel Maxima has me considering purchasing a new car earlier than I had planned. I will DEFINITELY be checking them out.

After driving a Cummins turbo diesel powered pickup, I don't know if I could ever go back to a gasser. The torque and ability to pull hills is simply amazing. The fuel economy is the icing on the cake.

And then there is the matter of the 2,000+hp diesels I run every day.

Hah, I was thinking the same thing Kam, exactly, then I read your post- that thing is saweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! I hope it doesn't change before the production version comes out. I love the glass roof, suicide doors and CLS coupe-like look. Even those lights and wheels- just everything- I'm pleasantly surprised at this- I was afraid it would look like the Infiniti M.

I didn't bother posting the interior pics for the obvious reason that none of it will make production in the near future.

I had heard that the new Max was going to look a lot like the Mercedes CLS 4 door. The only 4 door Merc that has a coupe designation. I like the looks of the new C class Merc too. The no charge Sport version a la AMG is cool. The new AMG version is going to be smoking hot too. Obviously most of the stuff in these pics will never make production however they are supplying lots of ideas to the Merc design teams for free as a lot of their stuff usually does make production. If the Max ever looked even anything close to this I would definitely get one!

xorbit - Your post really made me feel old. From the late 1940s until at least the year 2000, 'Merc' was a term used to designate a Mercury. Now it apparently represents a Mercedes. It may be that I have lived too long . . .

They must still be legal since Rolls Royce sells suicide door equipped cars, the RX8 has suicide doors as do some trucks.
