LMAO! Damn man I haven't even gone that high yet. Kinda CROWDED here in ATL. But now you have me wanting to see how it sounds! I'll have to drive around a bit tomorrow and find a long lonely road, hehe.

Got mine on Cardomain.com for $246 to the door with a $20 coupon (just do a google search and you'll find a coupon easy). Best $$ I've spent on an upgrade yet.

Mack,

Whats that black box on the vacuum hose going to your CAI? Never seen that before on either my Fujita or Injen on my other vehicle.

Actually, I was wondering the same damn thing myself lately! I've seen the Fujita's and other brands and they don't have these and run straight hose instead of through this "breather box"? Maybe Chern can chime in as I know he had the Injen CAI at one point.

IMO, I believe it was added to the 05/06 models because the 04 hose fed from the CAI directly into the IM, it was added as a way to catch more grud/condensation/particals, etc.

Ahh makes sense then. I'd rather it gather up in that little box than suck into my intake. But the Fujita doesn't have this does it Chern? Is there something else that does a similar job??

If, in the picture above, you are talking about the little box at 10 o'clock to the red battery terminal that has the 1 inch hose leading under the engine cover, I have 2 of those on my 04 5MT SL. I was wondering what they are for.

Also, instead of running all new piping for an intake, can we just disconnect and remove the OEM airbox/filter and attach a 4 bolt fitting and a cone filter thereby using the oem sensors, hoses, attachment points, etc. I don't know squat about intakes but it looks to me (especially the short ram) that they basically replace the OEM piping and add an airfilter to the end. Does the throaty sound of the intake come from the removal of the airbox which allows the engine to breathe easier?? Please advise... a newbie intake guy.

That's a damn good question man. Common sense would tell me what you're saying should be right on, basically making it into a "stockish" short ram. Kinda the best of both worlds. I could be wrong but I say go for it. I saw a bunch of filters and hookups at Pep Boys last night that I'm sure would do the job if you wanted to go ahead with it. As always, take lots-0-pics and provide feedback on your findings!

this coming from someone with not a single performance mod

if u want the most HP/tq that u can get out of a intake get a CAI... if u want to be "Safe" , get a short ram...

P.s. if u are going to get short ram.. do it like dues... his setup is sick... ..if not then dont even bother wasting your money on an intake...just get an intake manifold spacer kit... no risk of water damage there LOL ... or cattman y pipe
