to much oil?
to much oil?
as you may or may not know i have been having some issues with my 04 maxima, precat failure to be more specific.
dealership wanted 3300 to replace the manifolds, told them to get lost and had a set of obx 3.5 altima headers installed. as well as the plugs changed
got the car back from the shop and it runs like ***, smokes like crazy (burning oil/ unburnt gas smell), bogs really bad under throttle. so i took it back to the shop asked them to do a compression test, compression is 17x across the board, all cylinders are with in 5 psi of eachother.
so i was messing with it the other night decided to check the oil, sure enough half the dip stick is coated, wiped it off tried again, same results 10x in a row.
my last oilchange was done at the dealership about 700 miles before these issues started, would them overfilling the engine oil cause these problems?
i could see the burning oil smoke causing the drop in gas milage i experenced, and maybe that deteriorated the cat causing the precat failure? would that also explain the smoking/ oil covered plugs but still having good compression?
im going to change the oil tommorrow my self but i figured id post up here for some more opinions.
Thanks
Chris.
