I wanna put an 07 spoiler on my 04...??
I have an 04 maxima with the small stock lip spoiler, I hate it and I want to upgrade it to the spoiler from the 07 maxima. What is involved in doing this? I am assuming that when I remove the old lip spoiler, I will have to plug up the holes and then repaint the whole trunk lid? Or is this not the case? Any idea on how much a repaint job like this will cost? I really would much rather just remove the old spoiler and replace it with the new one with making no major modifications if possible. How many holes does the stock 04 lip spoiler use? Feedback is appreciated!

Yes you will have to plug three (or 4) holes on the back part of the deck lid that the 07 spoiler does not cover...I had no spoiler so my 07 went right on.
Search around there's been a bunch of threads about this already.

I wish I could search, it is disabled for me. What do members need to do to be able to enable this feature on the forum?

What about putting the 07 spoiler on my 04 WITHOUT removing the stock lip. Has anyone done this and can post pics? Is this possible to do without removing? If it looks okay, will save $400 on plugging the holes and repainting the trunk lid

i dont think it will look right

Several people have done this. It looks just OK if you ask me...I'd rather have it without the lip spoiler myself.

It might look ok and I thought about it before paying a shop to do the work. Honestly I thought it looked like a spoiler sitting on top of another spoiler. Maybe it would be cheaper to have a body shop mold the two spoilers together. I took the pic below before installing it and you can see the comparison.

Thanks for this, it gives me a slight idea of what it would look like. Dont really like it but still unsure. Man I hate the lip spoiler, but dont wanna pay so much just to put an 07 on in place of it. Does anyone know know where exactly the holes are from the lip spoiler and how big they are? I wonder if I could plug them up myself and then use touch up paint with a somewhat decent outcome.

I have a 05 max originally with the factory lip spoiler and had to have the 07 spoiler purchased from ebay for $109 painted matched the car perfect. I found an old timer welder and his son welded the 5 holes for $25.00 . Not bad for welding aluminum . Most welding places were afraid they would warp the trunk lid and would try but the old timer came through. I did have to have the deck lid repainted but i feel it was worth it! Check out my ride shows 1 pic of the old lip then a few pics of the 07 spoiler much sporty to me.

I did exactly what you are talking about. I bought one of those body filler kits from Lowes hardware. There were 4 holes in the trunk lid, that unfortunately sit just below the bottom of the new 07 spoiler after you install it. I put an aluminum mesh backing behind all 4 holes and then put the Bondo stuff in there to fill the holes. I then sanded the original paint down all the way across the top of my trunk lid just under the new spoiler and then primed/painted/clear coated with paint I bought online to match my paint color. I wish I could show you a picture, but the forum does not allow me to post pics. It came out pretty decent - most people don't notice that anything was done. However, if you look closely, you can see the there is a strip about 3 inches high on the upper part of the back of my trunk lid where the paint doesn't match perfectly. If you have a PM or something where I can send you a pic, let me know.... By the way, you cannot see any of the holes that I filled - they came out perfect and they were only about 1-1.5cm in diameter if I recall - not very big at all....
Let me know if you want me to send you a picture of how mine came out...
