Transmission

I searched the stickies for transmission problems, but did not find anything. If I overlooked it, please post the link.

Anyway, I'm having problems with my AT transmission. I have a 05 SE w/ ~54k miles. I drive normal but sometimes push it to the limits. I was having problems with the car getting into gear. I would put it in reverse and get a heavy jerk. When I'm on a hill and put it in drive, I get a heavy jerk as well. The Dealership replaced the transmission (after I took it there the first time and they said nothing was wrong, so I "drove" the car with the mechanic and he finally said, yeah, that's not good). With the new transmission, I'm still experiencing some of the same problems. It doesn't jerk as often when I put it in gear, but occasionally it does. Also, if I'm driving, let's say, 40mph and briefly take my foot off the pedal and then press the gas, it'll jerk. Would you say this is still the transmission or some other problem.

***The replacement transmission is a rebuilt tranny.

Did they replace the torque converter also?

You better check. It may be the TC that's causing the problem. This is just a guess on my part. But when you think about it, it's the TC that engages/disengages the power.

Thanks. I'll check on TC.

Seems like I've read a post about motor mounts doing that but I couldn't find it. Motor Mounts should show up bad going from reverse to drive at a stop in the driveway you would feel the motor clunking back and forth. Open the hood and watch it, maybe even give it just a little gas. You would think they woulda cought that but you never know.

The first Dealership did catch it and they replaced the left one..I can't remember exactly. But they said nothing was wrong with the transmission, so I ended up taking it to another dealership and they replaced the tranny for me.

Do a search. Dudes are breaking 3rd and 4th gear in their MTs with their boosted Maximas.
