Has any of you used the clear bra for paint protection?

After I got a scratch on my new maxima, I have been thinking of some way to protect the paint, especially the bumpers and front part of the hood which is most affected by bugs and chips in highways other than knuckleheads not knowing where to put their carts outside a store. And also from hot, humid and rainy Florida weather. One of the ways is to detail the car frequently which protects from the weather but not from scratches or minor dents.

The other option which does protect from scratches and minor dents is the black vinyl bra that many people put on. No offence to anyone but I do not find it very attractive on light colored cars, such as white, silver, light grey, etc. And mine is light (precision) grey.

I was wondering if any of you used the 3M clear bra for paint protection in your cars. Here is a review of the thing: http://www.automotivearticles.com/Clear_Bra_3M.shtml

Any other product or way to protect the paint from scratches and dents will be very useful.

I have it on my car covering the bumper, hood, front fenders, side mirrors and grille. I absolutely love it.

Cool.. You guys are great just like your cars! Any ideas about how much it would cost including material and labor?

I paid $400. Its not cheap but it is cheaper than repainting everything.

I had one on my 350z too. I live in FL and the sun bakes shee-ite out of everything plactic or vynl... So after a being on for 2 yrs, it started to look a little crappy and faded so i pulled it off and spent 4 hours trying to get the stickey residue off and then waxing the car...

Where did you get it done from? Also, for how long do you have the bra?

I called one of the guys here who do window tinting work and has also done mine. He said that both 3M and Llumar have these clear bras but both of them lose their color and get hazy after a few years. I do not know how much to trust him.

I see. I also got similar information. So now do you have any protective covering?

My brothers maxie came with it from the dealer and it looks like sh-t. After about 1-2 years it gets dull and you can see the difference between nice shiny paint and cheap non-shiny part that is covered with the mask.

I told him numerous time to peel it off but he won't budge. It looks like somebody did a horrible painting job without a clear coat.

I would never recommend this product personally.
