Intake Problem?Help

anyone have this intake and installed it fine? no check engine light?

http://www.racinglab.com/98nissen16li.html

ok today i got my exhaust in, sounds great
but when i was there i asked the guy to put my intake in, he said,

"if you put the intake in ur maf sensor will tell the computer that theres too much air coming in...blahblahblah... and ur check engine light will come on, and wen u take it to the dealer, they'll tell u they wont fix it, or they will but itll come back on."

how do i deal with this? 240$ spent and i cant put it in? lil help please?

(no taking out the check engine bulb)

no flaming or dumb remarks

but he said he got it on his gti and his jetta
both of them had his check engine lights on

i asked how sure r u that the light will come on and he said 99%

he also said he can put it in to see but if it lights up, when he switches it the light will stay on and when i go to the dealer they'll notice i tampered with it because of the screws

There are plenty of members on here with that intake and no SES. Keep in mind. GTI's and Jettas aren't Nissans. *Edit beat me to it

Typically dealers don't know anything aside from what the engine code tells them, and even then they don't have a clue. What they do is read the code, refer to the FSM and start fixing items it tells them to, and charge you for each and every meticulous item they 'fixed' in order to get rid of the light/code.

If you're that worried, leave the intake off your car.

This is a CAI. I have this exact model. Sounds incredible, looks incredible, bumps up HP a bit and never had an engine light. NOR have I heard of anyone who got one from putting in a respectable CAI. ie Nismo, Injen, Fujita, AEM etc, etc... FYI there are also MULTITUDES of threads on here in respect to an abundance of CAI's.

Steep price for an intake. I spent hundreds less than that price.

If you install it correctly, you shouldn't have any SES lights.

The only time the Germans and Japanese got along was WWII, take your car somewhere else or do it yourself. You will have no light issue unless you break something on install, ie MAF sensor.

My M62MAF seemed to help more than any of the mainstream tubular/conical intakes I've ever tried.

I have the Nismo. It was the first mod I did on my car. I installed it myself. It was really easy just with the directions that came in the box. I have had zero problems with it, other than the growl it gives out making me drive with a lead foot all the time!

Lucky he didn't post this on the 5th gen or he would probably get stoned to death by stock intake box.

IF....(Big 'ifi here) You end up throwing a check engine light, it is because you didn't disconnect the battery first, clearly in the directions. And IF you do throw a code, it will, over the course of a few miles (Insert 50-100) it will reset itself. The MAF does recognize a difference in the sensory components. It is nothing to write home about, and I assure all is well.

I have the Fujita and love it. No check engine here, but we (my husband and I) followed ALL directions during install.

I have the Fujita and I would never call that sound "fart can". Disconnect the battery for a while, step on the brakes and such and hook it back up. It should go away.

No prolems at all and I have the INgen CAI, Old frined of mine a long time ago said if INgen makes a Intake for your car get that one because they do a lot of R&D for their products. So if they had a light issue then they wouldn't have put it out before they have that issue fixed!

I agree with this to a certain extent. You guys have a much better designed Injen than ours, so in this case it’s true. But, the Injen kit for 4th and 5th gens is

no man, well... no, I was just expecting a different sound, you know deeper more civilized, this thing is pretty wild, , Ill wait a couple of weeks, and see if it grows on me, if not, anyone wanna buy a almost new fujita intake?

O yea, the only thing I found to be out of place when installing, was that the maf since it gets mounted on the opossite side of its original location, it has to be turned upsided down, correct me if im wrong.

ps, sorry about the fart can part dude,
