Lowering just the front? is it okay?

I think the wheel gap in the rear of my maxima is perfect. I would like to lower the front end only, ive never heard or known of anyone doing this - Is it okay to lower the front end only? and leave the back with the OEM setup?

I was going to go with Koni sport struts and eibach springs - is this my best bet? Im just a daily driver and dont race or anything like that so Im needing something that will lower the front and give me a decent ride still.

If anyone has any experience or knows of someone could you please help me out?

-Thanks

If you want good ride, lower the back too.

I only lowered my front at first and the ride was a little Since the back was "higher," it felt as if the car was going to fish-tail in turns and while slightly braking in turns.

It also felt as if you jacked up the rear end of the car...as in you, the driver felt more tilted forward...I think that made sense.

IMO installing only the front springs is like only installing 1 strut, half the performance advantage...

Agreed. I tried it for a couple of days...

I was waaaay happier after installing the rears.

Besides, the rears don't drop it a whole lot.

I just installed the front and left the back oem while the fronts were swapped with Eibachs. I can't feel the back is higher and as far as performance I do not give a shiat, because the look was all I was after. The performance is not that bad and I still take turns at speeds but most importantly it looks great being EVEN.

I dropped mine 1.8 inches in the front and .8 in the back and I am on Progress. I love the way it rides. It handles REALLY well in the corners. I would do both, but that is just me.

Anyone have any experience using KYB GR2s in the front and back?
I know the KYB adjustables in the rear and sport struts in the front is the better option, but like i said my Max is just a daily driver - i drive it to work and to drop/pickup the kids so the better performance isnt a factor.

what looks worse to you?
more wheel gap in the front, or

unparalleled to the ground, sloping forward?

The KYB GR2's are pretty close in performance to stock struts and rear shocks. If you have problems with your OEM, buy GR2's, if not leave it alone since performance is not a factor...

A car raked forward gives the car a more agressive look.
I prefer to have even wheel gap all around

But if i had to choose between a raked look and more wheel gap in the front which in my opinion gives the car a reverse raked look (even though the car doesnt truly have a reverse rake, the larger wheel gap in the front gives the illusion that it does)

So the larger wheel gap in the front looks worse to me.

Like Chernmax said, you're better off sticking with your stock struts & shocks. The GR2's will be a fair amount (15-20%) stiffer. Ride quality will suffer but handling will improve. The only reason to get GR2's is a demand for better handling and you're only a little concerned with ride quality. If ride quality is important AND performance then Koni's and KYB AGX's are the route ya want to go.

I totally agree with you. The gap looks far worse than the rake. The rake look is actually old school muscle car look. Get yo rake on!

Ive read many people having problems with the eibach combined w/ OEM struts/shocks, but ive also read many having no issues at all.

Is it due to the quality of installation?

I had Eibachs on OEM struts for over 3 years with zero issues, but I did replace the rears with KYB AGX, not because I had issues but because I wanted to tighten up the rear and reduce the "squat" when taking off...

And yes I do attribute some problems by members to the quality of the installs...

If I were to just lower the front to make it even, how low do you think I should go?

Same here. Most of the problems that members had were installation issues. The rear shows less cap because the trunk is packed with luggage and I have heavy woofers in there.

+1 on that. Exact same setup here currently. Although when my Koni & KYB's arrive (this week) I'm going to finally put the rear Eibach's on but then I'll be able to adjust it.

About 1.8 inches. Eibachs have a little bit more drop in the front than Progress. Eibach springs will even it up.

Just remember Mack, the rear shocks effect the rear drop at most a 1/4 inch (due to the load...woofers, gas, & people).

When you have a BIG rear load you can stiffen the shocks to help from bottoming out. If you still want her even you'll need a custom spacer in the rears once the rear springs are installed. Definetly, I mean definetly install the rear springs and you will improve handling. You'll love it!

Don't forget to have the car realigned (4 wheel alignment).
