Update 11/2/2007

OK, the Blowoff valve has been tack fitted and the whole turbo and piping need to be removed to do all final welds, leak tested, and have the heat wrap material applied, still waiting on the intake maifold pipe that is being custom fabbed (the one I sacrified the Fujita CAI for). They also complete the trunk mount of the battery and when I get my ride home I'm going to line the trunk with B-Quiet Ultimate sound proofing material, I have a 50 foot roll sitting in my garage. They also reinstalled the Kinetix IM and connected the oil lines (pressure sent and return). Anyway, here are the updated picture I took during lunch...

Hey Chern, prolly a dumb@ss question but why are you going to line the trunk with sound proofing material? You got special plans for the battery mounting?

I want to eliminate as much road noise and I'm even going to do under the rear seat. I like HP, but in the cabin it's smooth jams doing 140+

That's what my 3 passengers said when I was doing 100mph on a nicely paved highway! for sound deadening material!

Update: 11/2/2007

OK, all welds were complete when I got to the shop and they were doing the final test fit, he then has to remove the Turbo/Wastegate and clean, paint, and heat wrap the piping and reinstall in the car. He also did a pretty nice job for the wastegate. Instead of mounting a down pipe that dumps hot air into the lower engine compartment, he attached a cross connect that goes to the exhaust side of the piping to the mufflers so vented gases use the exhaust, said the car should be quieter...

For those asking about the RLM bumper, here are some pics of how much I shaved off and reinforced the back side with a thin strip of stainless steel and attached with heavy duty all weather liquid nails, I have one more coat to apply of liquid nails which will almost make the bar not visible and should do a great job strengthening the lower part of the bumper...

I also had to shave the outer inside holes on the bumper because they were hitting the intercooler, plenty of clearance now!!!

Hey chern, what size power & ground wire did you run to the trunk? From the pics it doesn't look that big.

Their big, 2 gauge, looks like high end speaker cable. I also have an ActiveTuning ground wiring kit which I cross grounded all my engine components to the Chassis.

LOL, no, they'll do better if I don't rush them, their doing a quality install and that makes me happy. And since I bring them so much work, they're cutting me a sweet deal on the install price... So, it's coming...

I also plan to drive the car a little before the Tranny upgrade to break the Turbo in easy, still have to order the parts for the Tranny. The guy who services my vehicle transmission is a member of the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association (ATRA) and is actually the only guy who I trust to do my Tranny service. His recent project was upgrading a Tranny for a Twin Turbo 350Z. Car was like a 10 second runner, so now he can add a Turbo Max...

man chern i like you more and more, lol. aint nothing like running a 12 second pass and then kicking some serious musical tones afterwards. my trunk is also soundproof and doesnt effect the performance that much.

Will the oil capacity increase, I know Turbos are oil cooled but does that oil stay in them or drain out back into the pan, I saw the pic of the oil line that was tapped into the pan but is there an oil pickup just for the Turbo

When stopped and turned off, the oil drains down but some stays in the turbo, thats why when you've been driving hard and get home, you should let the car run in park for an extra 1 to 2 minutes because the oil cools the turbo and you want to disipate some of the high heat before turning it off. It will also greatly extend the life of the Turbo...

. . . or get a turbo timer which allows you to get out of the car and then shuts off the car after a programmed amount of time, usually around 2-3 minutes.

Update: 11/3/2007

Well the shop doing the Turbo is closed this weekend so I worked on the front RLM bumper today to keep progress moving forward. I applied the second coat of Liquid Nails over the stainless steel brace; also my co-worker stopped by to do the custom LED install that will light up the intercooler bumper area, Upper/lower Halo's all with 1 button, he essentially tied the new LED's to my existing Halo's power switch. He did an awesome, professional job... Can't wait for some night show again, can't run it on the street...

I've seen them for Turbo Diesel trucks, shut the car off pull the key out, lock it up like normal but the engine still runs for 5 minutes

Chern, just so you know my man - You have each update listed as the 10th month of the year, which is October. Unless you are living on an alien planet where it is October. Of course, you have the first turbo powered sixth gen...maybe you live on an alien planet after all...
