Bad experience replacing halogen bulb

My front halogen bulb went out a few days ago so I searched around for a replacement. The part# is 9012 which I could not find in any auto parts store. So I went back to the deal and the price is $54. Has anyone found a replacement for it under a different part# or a place other than Nissan that carries 9012?

Changing the bulb was also a pain. For all of my previous cars, all I had to do is twist the cap off under the hood and was able to replace the bulb with ease. With the 6th gen, I could not figure out how to replace the bulb without squeezing in my hands. It took me an hour to fiddle that bulb in.
Does anyone have instructions on how to replace the bulb without cutting up your hands?

umm its so easy to retro fit hids...

9006bulb type, 1" hole bit and a drill... put the bulb in the socket, push the bushing into the hole... mount ballast and plug it in. repeat x2 and your done... took me roughly 2 hours to do both headlights. Gonna go back in and do the fogs this weekend or next depending on my time.

it really is easy as **** to do it.

Look for a seller named flash plus. The ballast's are made in germany bulbs are jap.

Ive had the kit installed for 3 weeks and no problems at all. Friend of mine used them in his 04 mustang gt for around 2 years with no problems. He also installed them in his 07 altima.

From what ive seen its a great kit at a great price.

BigPete! Thanks for info, it helps out tremendously. I do have one other question, how do you set-up active fogs hid lights, instead of our regular turn signals bulbs alone the bottom bumper. Thanks for the information.

you talking about changing out the bumper turn light thing or the headlight fogs? i would assume the kit would still be plug and play as long as the bulbs fit. If they dont just splice into the factory harness and the ballast harness and cap them off. It should be pretty easy...

That's good to hear about those kits, I still would be wary of paying under $100 for an HID kit...

And Presence see my post on the other org about your fogs...

Wait!!!!!!!!!! You can change the bulbs yourself?????????? The dealer had to take off my bumper cover and fender. The price was almost $200, but it was covered under warranty?

So the questiion is, how do you change the bulb? I have a fog light that's out in my O4 SE with halogen lights.

Its a 20min job if you turn the wheels and take the front part of the inner fender loose and just the side of the bumper cover loose. Its still tight, but it works.

I saw somewhere else on here that John Deere Shops sell the 9012 bulb for big tractors or some piece of equip. Anyways the point is John Deere sells them for anywhere between $4.50 to $8.50 a bulb. The dealership is of course gonna pull your crank for an $80.00 bulb then another $200.00 because the bumper has to come off.

You can do anything yourself with the proper knowledge!! (which is why we are all here) To change the fogs you don't need to remove the bumper, For the driver's side you need to remove the intake or the stock air filter. This will give you access to the bulb. For the passenger's side, remove the fluid reservoir (there's 2 10mm bolts holding it in place). After that you'll need to remove the fill tube for the windshield washer fluid. You can do this by twisting it counter clockwise. After that you should have access to the bulb. it is a tighr fit, just be patient.

For the headlights you do need to remove the bumper, pretty easy as well.
I had mine off last week and it took me maybe 7 minutes to drop (of course I've done it countless times now) But for a first timer, maybe 20 minutes to drop. There's 2 screws on either side in the front side of the wheel well. And then remove the plastic piece above the radiator and take out 4 more clips and your done. Oh and I think you have to remove the clips on the splashguard underneath....

LOL...amazing. I was just complaining to my wife how hard it is to change out a fog bulb on the driver side. Its almost impossible !!! So I need to either go through the wheel well or take off the air filter housing. Anyone know how many bolts hold that housing in? I removed one and it was still in pretty snug. Guess I will try the wheel well next.

Just did my second set tonight and you can do it without removing bumper but it makes it more of a pain. The two screws you need to remove on the bumper are the hardest and at that point you might as well and finish removing the rest of the bumper. Removing bumper while keeping turn signal lights connected takes maybe 10 mins. at the most. If it is not too late and since I am on my second set I would suggest going with 4300k after having 6k and 8k.
There is group buy for $130 shipped next day and they actually put out some crazy light for that price.

I have the HIR and they are bright enough.. a couple flashed me last night and I had to turn off my front fogs b/c they ended up going to the same gas station as I did. They told me I had my hi beams on and I was like my car only has Lo-Beams... So I guess if it made an impression on them, then it sure to do the same for others....
