Need to replace O2 sensor

OK, sometime during the upgrade of my Y-pipe the O2 sensor got burned out, I refuse to pay the stealership $400 to replace it, but they did tell me that was the reason the CE light is on. I have inspected it, cleaned it, and attempted to reset the computer by unhooking the battery but I still have a persistent check engine light that I need to get rid of.

So, I would like to know where I can order a factory replacement O2 sensor. Many thanks for any suggestions.

Verify that the O2 sensor is the cause of the light/code. After you verify what the problem is, get a hold of DAVEB and buy the part for cheap, then fix it yourself.

Hey thanks,

I am ready, I had it at the dealership a couple months ago and they identified that as the source of the problem.

How can I reach DaveB?

You can get them at pep-boys also. Or any other parts store for around 69$

Not the stock widebands I don't think. If your car is an 05+, you have widebands.

When you disconnected you battery how long did you leave it disconnected?..You should leave it overnight unless you know how to reset you ecu ...I just did it on mine because I replaced the o2 sensor but I have a 4th gen...not sure how your ecu works...You should get it cleared and drive around for a few days to see if it goes off again...you also said you upgraded you y pipe...might be that the o2 is getting to much smoke and going off...do you have and o2 simulator....that also another way to go if you dont want to spend all that money on a new one..the simulator does exactly what it says it simulates the functions of the o2 so it doesn't trigger the ecu GooD Luck

If you had the actual code #, we could tell you which sensor it was. And depending on which sensor it is, then and only then should you simulate it, if that is even an option at that point.

Ok, so its been a few weeks since I updated this thread, but since it's mostly for my benefit -who cares-...

I ordered the new O2 sensor from Dave, who was very helpful.

My question is when I install it, how do I tell the computer to reset? Is there a secret 'clear SES code' button? Do I just disconnect the battery (and lose all my radio stations etc...) if so, how long do I have to leave it disconnected?

Any advice would be appreciated as I want to get to it this weekend.
