Production Date 2004
I think mine was built last shift of friday night. You know the Smyrna plant where they build the maxima is only like 3 miles from the "tennesee sipping whiskey" plant.
Errr......... Thats pretty bad, i think most of the hillbillies there must be drunk when assembling our cars. Did you guys know I only had my car for 3 days when the drive shaft fell off and took out the tranny.... yeah 3 days. All cause somone forgot to install a c-clamp.
Go to google maps, and enter this
"Nissan Dr @35.964155, -86.495164"

Thats where they make our rickety lemons.
shes a girl with many problems but I still love her. Kamski=
Now that I read this again with full stomach, the production date for 2004 probably started in Jan 2003 since they went on sale in March 2003. Light can give the definite answer. Since the OP asked, I guess the OP has one of the early 2003 built.
It seems like the 2004 model had an excessively long manufacturing year prepared to 2005's, and up. So some 2004 models are technically 2003.5's.
2003 models must have had a short production periond ending in 2002 then.

I see the ORG arrived at the proper dates while I was lost in the woods somewhere in either Alabama or Mississippi. Out of cell phone range for several days.
Yes, the '03 Maxima production in Japan ended at the end of the 2002 calendar year (although it took well over a month for the last Japaneese '03s to arrive at US dealers); a short run. Yes, the '04 Maxima production in Smyrna began in mid-January of 2003. Yes, the first '04 Maximas began arriving at most dealers the first week of March, 2003. Yes, the '04 had a very long production run - from Mid-January 2003 until early July 2004; almost 18 months. Over 132,000 '04 Maximas were produced. The SLs prior to 2-6-04 were 4 speed automatic tranny, all other 6th gen SEs (other than the manuals) and SLs were the 5 speed tiptronic tranny.
The '05, '06 and '07 Maxima runs were fairly normal, sort of a July-to-July thing. Each year, the new models of the '05s, '06s, and '07s began arriving at dealers in August. There was very little shut-down time involved during these years, as each model year was very similar to the previous year.
The '08s began production in July as normal, but will cease several weeks in advance of the beginning of '09 production, as the '09 will be a totally changed vehicle from the '08. I expect that changeover to happen this coming spring.
All 6th generation Maxima model years began with the same VIN serial number - 800000 - so by checking the VIN serial number it is easy to tell how many of any particular model year were produced prior to the one being looked at. And the production month and year are on the metal plate inside the driver's door.
The actual DAY a vehicle came off the assembly line was on a little paper stickie beneath the back bumper, but usually fell off or was washed off very early in the car's life - often before even being sold by the dealer.
We should be seeing the first spy photos of the '09 Maxima very soon. If the car in any proposed '09 Maxima spy photo is not masked heavily with tape, etc, then it is not the '09 Maxima.

on Lightonthehill. Production usually stops around June for current model year and begins in July for next model year, except for the early release models.
