How would a front splitter look?

I have seen some cars with front splitters. These are devices that go under the front of the car and stick out an inch or two to give the front wheel more traction in high speed turns. Also they give the car a bit more aggressive look. Here is an example of one on an older BMW:

On a 350Z:

On a G35:

On some car:

What do you guys think good or bad? (ya know Im gonna do it anyway )

What really "defines" a true sports car?

But to each his own...I'm 50/50 on that statement

I tend to agree with Allblack. I think they look great on the 350z, G35's etc. but not so much on the 4-dr sedan. But hey, you're a serious racer so if it helped you get traction in turns then why not? It'll probably look a bit awkward but man if you do it show us some pics!

I think if properly designed it could look great on an OEM bumper. It may be a bit much on Deus but again, its all in the design. No adjusters please.

Not sure at what speed a splitter begins to make a difference for ground effect.

The splitter is subtle yet add a touch of aggressiveness to the car. It only sticks out a couple inches, so its not like a snow plow or anything. Some of the concept cars at the LA Auto Show and SEMA had these and it looks really sharp. Ill take pics when Im done with the project, like my rear diffuser.

Here is a nice pic of a black scion with a splitter. Lookin good!!!

Since there isdownforce on the splitter, I probably would use turnbuckles as seen here in the Scion pic, but Id paint them black.

Your Stillen lip already has a splitter on each side. I think no more than about an inch, definitely not with the adjusting arms.

Alright Deus, let's see it.....

To answer the 'sports car' question....

Why buy something labeled as a 'sports car' so insurance can ring him? Look what he has done already!

alright deus, if you really wanna do it - then do it the altima way and please don't use any adjusters, our cars are meant for luxury and speed yet maintain a classy look, after all they are 50 k + Cars so in all honesty, do it if you really want to for the functionality but don't make it look ricey.

Also, if you don't mind - here's some suggestions i'd like to make - i'd like to add two things - your car is surely unique so the suggestions might not be the best options for you but have you ever considered the RLM Bumper and the Active Tuning Grill W/ the Red Strip (Just like you've done it now) I honestly think with these 2 added, your car will look much more hotter and not that it isn't already now :P

I made a cardboard mock-up of a splitter. Of course it needs trimming and shaping to get a final shape but I wanted to have some idea of what it looked like. So here they are:

Im gonna trim it on the sides a lot and keep most of it towards the front. This certainly isnt final form, but its getting there. Then I need to score a sheet of ABS plastic.

It photographs better when its dirty, lol. I prefer to have the splitter come straight across the front instead of shaped like the Sentra splitter. It gives it a smoother look I think.

Here are daytime pics after I trimmed the sides:

The jacks are to hold the cardboard splitter in place. The next step is to get the ABS plastic and trace the cardboard mock up on to the plastic, leaving extra room so I can shape it. This shape isnt the final shape by any means. Also, the splitter will go back to the rear edge of the bumper so it will have a smoother line. Oh, and I might make it adjustable so it can stick out more for race and show, or tuck it in for street. I think if I slot the mounting holes, I'll be able to do that.

LOL the cardboard looks like *** Deus. But to be honest, I don't think the REAL thing will look too bad. Kinda anxious to see it. Do you plan on using turnbuckles?

I know the cardboard is hoaky lookin but its to get the right shape. I painted it so it is slightly better. It really looked like a$$ when it wasnt painted. I am quite certain you will all be pleasantly surprised at the outcome. I am going to avoid turnbuckles if I can. Remember, there will be a lot of downforce on this which is why people use turnbuckles. If I have to use them, Ill paint them black of course.

Yeah, I was examining the pics just now and looking at the G/Z splitter in the above pictures, and I trimmed the sides. How does this look?

Also remember, the final product will be black so it will look MUCH narrower. It only sticks out about 2 inches at the front and an inch or less on the sides

there you go, looks a lot better, bro. i'd still want to see a final product painted in black and please don't put on the adjusters it'll make the car look wierd. you're in the right direction, though

p.s: do you think the center piece should be cut out so the splitters look like they are on the sides, i don't know how to say this but hm, u know the center piece where your lip does not have what's on the right and left of the lip - lol how do i say this? i hope u get what i mean.
