It is the CE y pipe. A little loud in the cabin but I will have to get used to it. It is loud as hell outside the car. Still breakin her in. Will try to get one in the cabin soon. Thanks all for the props.

Think I may have to get a new resonator then. My wife will kill me if its loud.

Thanks guys. I do feel a difference. Quite a drone at 2.5 RPMs though. Its only been a day with it so dont think the ECU has compensated. All of the noise is in the muffler. Even now could use a bigger resonator.

Sort of on topic. I'm going to be installing this exhaust either tomorrow or Saturday. I'm I'm wondering the best way to get the rear end on 2 jack stands. I've got one 2.5 ton craftsman floor jack and 2 x 2 ton craftsman jack stands. Should I just slide the jack under the car and jack it up from the middle rear jack point, then put the 2 stands the sides? Just curious how everyone does this sort of jacking up the entire car...

Hilbe, don't worry about the sound until you've heard it. Sound is very subjective, perfect for one person may not be for the next, but with the 22" resonator these have its really not that loud... see for yourself.
As far as drone goes, they're holding a Nobel Prize in reserve for the first engineer that can figure out how to make a performance exhaust that doesn't drone someplace be 2k-3k rpm on cars with automatic transmissions. I remember asking Jim Wolf years ago about why they didn't sell catbacks, and he said it was because he couldn't figure out how make one that didn't drone on an A/T.

Our gen6 catback sounds great "out of the box", but there is a noticeable change during the first 7-10 days as a thin layer of carbon builds up on the interior surfaces of the catback. This layer reduces the acoustical reflectivity of the interior surfaces - sort of like laying carpet and hanging curtains in a bare concrete room. The volume decreases slightly and the tone becomes more mellow.

Well. I found a cheap solution. The in-cabin noise is VERY loud. Sounds like I don't even have a muffler on. I went to Lowes and bought a product called "Peel and Seal" from the roofing section as a cheap alternative to Dynamat. Its tin backed rubber with adhesive. Simple to install. Just cut, peel off the backing, and apply. Only comes in 6 inch strips of 25 feet. I used 1.5 rolls (at $15 a roll) to do the trunk. I'll test it out tomorrow.

Well, after driving it today with the Peel and Seal on I have noticed a 1/3 decrease in noise I'd say. I had the seats down to test it out, next test drive this afternoon I'll put the seats up for a final verdict.

The Cattman is a 22 inch resonator, compared to the 33 or so inch stock (measured it last night). I am not sure if its just the resonator or other factors. A larger resonator surely will help with noise though...just need to find a larger than 22 inch high flow resonator somewhere to weld on. Suggestions?

Any suggestions on how to silence this thing? Its just way too loud. The wife drove it yesterday and was not happy. I would prefer not putting the old resonator on if possible. I'm starting to think its the mufflers making all the noise...

WOW ok maybe I was wrong that thing is rediculous. So is the y pipe a big restriction also. I'm looking to pick up 20-30 hp and not a lot of nosie, cops in Boston are diffacult to say the least.
#33
Man i CANNOT wait to add this in the spring! Who thinks cattman Y and cat back running to a stock muffler would keep it quiet and still feel alot of power?????? would the stock muffler be a big set back????
#34
I'm going to call Cattman today to see what he has in terms of ideas for solving the noise issue. If I have to spend another $75 to $150 to make her closer to silent, I will....

I completly agree with you the nosie issue is a big problem for me also, keep us updated on what catman has to say on the solving the nosie issue.
