HIDS...aftermarket..so dim wtf?? help?

When I got my 6K HID's off ebay I loved em pretty bright and a good color. lately been noticing they seem dimmer...not dramatically..but when I go past cars with HALOGEN headlights...the other cars light the road up more than my HIDS. I see bimmers, audis acuras especially that light up the road great. Can cheaper HID bulbs start to get dimmer over time? i paid like $60 for both and a year warranty. they are on constantly when I drive..and I drive a lot. Its just frustrating me... they SUCK. Im wondering if its the design of our projectors..but I thought all projectors were more or less the same..

$60 for the entire kit? You get what you pay for. Those cheap kits use cheap parts which in turn do not last very long.

All HID bulbs get dimmer over time. This can be accelerated by frequent on/off cycles but a quality bulb should not have significant light loss for 5+ years.

Might want to invest in some quality bulbs. I replaced the D2S' that came in my BMW with some 6000k ones but the price for them was close to $150-160. I didn't notice any kind of fading in them and I ran them for about 2 years before someone thought it would be a good idea to cross the center line and hit me head on.

Stock bulb is 4300K, your new bulb is 6000K. Stock was brighter to begin with and now factor in the "quality" of the bulb. I think if you got better 6000K bulbs you'd be happier.

The stock bulbs sucked just as much though...but it doesn't matter may even be selling the car anyway. if your interested look in fs/wanted threads.
