Center Console Bucket

Ok, dumb question! I was reading the owner's manual and it said I could remove the 'bucket' center console to store bigger items. Well, I went to the dealer and Neither the SE or SL have this bucket that is supposed to go in the center console. Did the 07 come with one? Why does the 08 not come with one when the owner's manual says it does...in a round about way.

Thanks in advance.

Wow...there's a noob question! (j/k). I don't know about the 07-08 Maximas, but both my 05 and 06 had a felt lined insert that sat inside the center console. Nissan may have just not updated that portion of the manual since your car is still technically a 6Gen. Anyway, how much does it matter?

My 07 has a removable tray that you can pull out to get to the additional 12v plug, store cables, etc.

It's not that, in the manual it shows a shallow bucket for smaller items and the instructions say that you can remove the small storage unit to store bigger items. I am definitely missing something.

It's not that, its the principal of the manual showing you have this and it not being there. The 'drop in box' is needed for an additional project I am working on in the future.

Original PM

First off, I am impressed with what you have done with the Max.

I have a question and I need some assistance. The plastic cover that fits over your driver side shock mount where you have the FSTB....do you know if the 08's are supposed to have one and if not, will one off of an 06 (your model right) fit since we are in the same generation of car?? My engine bay doesn't have one. Plastic from front of engine bay to back along the passenger side and nothing except the air box down the driver side, which will eventually be replaced. Thanks for your assistance.

cfr94,
First thanks for the compliment, I'm very surprised to hear that your 08 doesn't have the engine bay side covers, I would suggest that you post this question as there are several members with the 08 Max I'm sure they will answer your question. As to the 06 covers fitting your 08, not sure as I know the front fenders are different, plus you need the holes below the covers to attach the plastic fasteners to. Hope this helps.

Well you got lucky because I went back to the dealer and not a single SE or SL has the bucket in the car.

jsmithsole: yes you are correct. The pic does show the shallow bucket which pulls out to create more space, but my SE doesn't have one and none of the SL's at the dealership had one either.

Maybe there's some freak with a shallow bucket fetish and he stole them all. Or maybe it's Nissan being cheap or even the dealer being cheaper and reselling them to make a buck!! If you bought your car new I'd go back and demand your bucket, tell them it's in the book and you've talked to many other owners who have one in there car...usually if you go in knowing what you are talking about they will be more willing to help you out. Maybe even go to another dealer and check it out, could seriously be that dealer taking them out...

I agree. The dealer I went to did not have my color in stock and he had to get it from another dealership and I had the center console bucket. A friend of mine who went to the same dealer got a color that they had in stock, and his car did not have one. Both are 08 SL's.

All this over a damn center console bucket...lol...well the dealership is still unsure what to do....I'll just keep harrassing and showing the pic in the dealership owner's manual and eventually they'll give me one.
