Installing the Unorthodox UDP!?
Hey Peeps,
I need some support from you guys on this matter. I took the Max to my normal installation shop and they informed about a situation with installing the UDP.
They stated that they might be charging me an extra $200 because they must remove something from the upper engine bay...
I plan on installing 3 mods and one being the UDp. The install for all 3 was to be $400 but with this issue then Im looking at $600 which is ridiculous IMO.
Please post some info on how you guys installed your UDPs in detail so I could print out and bring it to these fools.
Thanks homies!!

Some of these places don't realize you can access the belts through the front wheel well. So instead they charge you to essentially tilt/drop the engine to get to the belts/pulley. Explain to them that they just have to remove the tire and unsnap a few plastic rivets to access the pulley/belts.

You know my thoughts on the matter, total B/S in my opinion, passenger wheel off, plastic wheel well cover off, Pulley right in there face, NOTHING and I mean NOTHING to jack other than the fact they are trying to jack you for an extra 2 bills, you can quote me on it and you have my private number that the garage can call me on if any of those chuckle heads want to challenge me on it!!!

They "Spealize" in installing performance parts.
I am very happy you stated what you did...
Thanks bro!!

I have a little more back up now and if I get a bit more feedback from the rest of the familia then I can bring the proof to these guys at EZ Concepts.

Also on the top tensioner nut its not the typical righty tighty, its the opposite I believe. If they do it like regular it will snap rather easy. The outer belt is the top tensioner nut with another one nut just below it. The inner belt has to be done down below. Did you get instructions with it?

I've got the UR SC pulley (stock diameter, not underdrive). I was there the whole time when the tech installed it. He jack up the car and replaced the stock pulley. No belts were replaced so maybe that's why he could do it all from the bottom, but I doubt it. $200 is just way to much to put that pulley on, it my guy about 20minutes.

Installed SC pulley.

How much did you pay for the stock sized pulley, and have you had any issues with it?

1. Just because I had the pic and I thought folks might like to see them side by side.
2. UR pulley is not cheap...it was like $170. No issues at all. That UDP is still available to me, I may give it a try this spring.

Well just installed the unorthodox and first off very nice craftmanship and build quality. I remember the timing marks on a previous post with the cosmo racing and how sh#$ty it looked, so went with the unorthodox and am very pleased. Deus did a nice write up before, but one thing that I want to add is that when loosening the tensioner bolt on top of the engine, you have to loosen the actual tensioner bolt itself to free up the belt. That part took me the longest and everything else was just gravy... I did have to go with a smaller belt instead of the Gates K060408, I went with the K060407, which was perfect. No squeels as of yet and will await a dyno to see. Weight difference as Apollos has showed is huge. Had fun installing.

EZ CONCEPTS = EZ MISTAKES
You probably have it in already Grim but let me tell you this. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH EZ CONCEPTS in bay shore and now theyve moved by babylon. They can do simple stuff for you but thats IT the guys in the back are usually very amateur when it comes engine work. The head guy there is named Jaime he is coo but usually he is working on the owners car "Hersh" and wont be avail to work on yours. Take it to another shop man if you want P.M me i know another shop in b wood or smithtown that can handle our cars with no issues.

Ultra SC is lighter than the stock by a few pounds. Its probably only ounces heavier than the UDP version.
I am running the SC version. Is there any difference in whp gain? Only the dyno knows, and as far as I know, no one has spent the money to do a before/after on their pulley swaps.
