Would the average person notice a difference.....
Would the average person notice a difference in performance between a $400 a wheel RAYS g-game vs. an $1800 a wheel HRE custom?? Same tire and dimensions.
By average I mean those who are not Mario Andretti.

I went from sowhat heavy "lippy" rims to a set of RAYs and both I and the car noticed the difference. Car feel lighter taking of and MPG increased. Not to mention the looks.
I don't know the weight difference between the rims in question so can't tell you for sure.

the "average" might not notice but anyone w/ the slightest knowledge probably will. it depends on what ur going for either performance or looks. performance of course rays since they are lighter but if ur going for looks go w/ HRE's since its going to be a bigger lip but the weight kicks in

$8000 for wheels and tires on a $30,000 car? Ummmm, I don't think its a wise investment. Buy the Rays and take the saved $6000 and buy yourself something nice for you and the family.

$8,000 on a $20,000 car ????
I adjusted for the loss you take once you take the car from the dealer

At that price tag, you're aren't paying for looks any longer. You are paying for superior engineering/materials and design.
Go with the lighter weight wheel (within reason). 8-10 lbs more per wheel = ~2 MPG less!
With gas prices expected to crest $4 that 2 MPG will begin to look mighty sweet!

I think you'll notice a big difference at retirement if you take half of that money and put it into a Roth IRA, but if it's $8000 wheels that you want, then who is going to stop you...Besides, may I ask why you are putting those kind of high performance wheels on a family car? I mean the Maxima is great, don't get me wrong, but shouldn't you be looking at maybe the M division of BMW or RX7's, Merc's,...they really belong on high performance road racing cars.
